Traveling is not just an experience but a lifestyle as well. You can meet new people, see new places and experience different cultures all around the world. Its one thing to watch the sights and sounds of the world in the screen, but it’s a whole new flavor if you experience it yourself. One way to share your adventures to the world is to build a travel website.

People are generally interested in traveling but few have the resources and time to actually go through with it. Those that do often make a bit of research first go help them decide where to go. If you build a travel website you can help those people make a choice. Unlike reading an encyclopedia or watching a documentary, travel websites usually offer a personal touch in its content. Since a lot of people use the Internet when looking for vacation spots and destinations, you can also earn a bit of cash through your website. You can hit two birds with one stone: share your passion and generate income.

It’s not difficult to build a travel website especially if you’re into traveling and have you fair share of adventure. Here’s a short guide when creating your own website:

• Plan your website carefully. Separate topics based on relevance so visitors can navigate through your website easily. For example, you should have one section dedicated to travel in European countries. Your entries should not be limited to just the popular places; if you know have something interesting in mind be it a restaurant, a store or a regular event share it to your readers. These little things aren’t covered by most travel guides and will give a more intimate and personal flavor to your website separating it from the rest.

• If you want really creative and personal articles, it’s best to write for yourself. This is especially true if you are a well traveled individual. However, if you’re travel experience is quite limited, you can either hire a writer or a group of writers to compose your pieces. Of course, you will have to pay them.

• If you decide to do the writing and share your own experience, it would be best to include photos and images as much as possible. Adding photos you took on a scenic view can captivate your readers. Also, it can help them find the places you’ve written in your website.

• Once you’re done preparing for your materials, chose a name to fit your website. The name should be creative, descriptive and easy to remember. You can add your name to increase the chance that it’s available (johndoeadventures.com or journeysofjohndoe.net).

• After deciding on a name, register it with a domain immediately. If the name is already taken, you can ask the owner to sell it to you. If that doesn’t work, just make slight variations to your website’s name.

• Next, you have to create your website. You can ask a friend that knows something about web design to help you or you can download website design software; there are a lot of free downloads available.

• When creating a website, don’t use too many flashy and complex designs that take too long to load. Go with a simpler but attractive content so readers can easily access your site.

• After creating your website, find an ISP to host it for you. You can check a number of providers and decide for yourself which one caters best to your preference.
