Australian Aboriginal Artefacts

Sunday, April 6th, 2008
by Barry C Numgerie

Archaeologists have for years told us of the arrival over 60000 years ago of the first humans in Australia. These first Australians come from many Asian countries crossing the continental land shelf. The northern part of Australia started to populate with people many of whom moved into the Kimberly, Arnhem and Cape York Regions of Australia.

In northern Australia there are many caves, cliffs and sandstone rock-shelters, it is widely accepted that these were used for camping, their floors are layered with charcoal and ash from camp fires, the remains of food such as shells and animal bones, stone tools and, very often, pieces of ochre have been found. Ochre comes from soft varieties of iron oxide minerals (such as haematite - a fine-grained iron oxide which produces a strong red colour with a purple tint) and from rocks containing ferric oxide, and is still used in Aboriginal Art.

In the case of rock painting, the original Aboriginal Art, dates have been obtained for pigment directly on the walls and for painted fragments buried in deposits of campsite material. Techniques for dating have usually involved radio-carbon dating of material, but there are also newer techniques now available including optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS).

To prove an exact date, because carbon dating is only good for about 40000 years scientist used the newer methods of dating. Which scientist have discovered had another benefit that less material was needed to test and prove an items date. This is proving to be really useful and beneficial to scientist and paintings alike.

Pieces of Ocre have been associated with nearly all discovered sites and most have been dated at over 10000 years. The reason we dwell on the heritage of Aboriginal art is simply to prove that it can be traced back to the stone age. While aboriginal art now uses a lot of the latest artistic materials, many of the old favorites are still in use, so ochre, bark and wood is still popular.

Even though Aboriginal art has now started to move from caves and rocks to more main stream mediums it is still proving to be a great investment. Over the years many of the earlier artist people who started the revolution have seen their art appreciate into the hundreds of thousands.

There are so many ways to celebrate art and decorate walls and rooms that , aboriginal art offers something that is original with nearly every one been hand painted on location. Because of this it is much easier to get a painting from a new painter while they are unknown. Image getting an early Albert Namatjira you couldn’t not smile.

You will then have a valuable and authentic piece of aboriginal art, there is nothing quiet like watching a piece of art bout cheap go for $50000 dollars. While many artist will never achieve this type of fame it seems that more aboriginal paintings and carvings are appreciating faster.

JONAS BROTHERS LAUNCHES FAN CLUB

With the existence of numerous internet site that supports and assist the Jonas Brothers fans, the boys still managed to create their own official fan club “Team Jonas”. There some words spreading around that special preference will be given to the members of the fan club like having priority choices in seating for Jonas Brothers tour concerts. We hope that the management and staff of this fan club have picked up some things to avoid from Hannah Montana fan club.

Remember? A class suit was filed against the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus fan club organizers because they failed to live up to their promise of giving preference to fan club members in terms of getting concert tickets?

JONAS BROTHERS TOURS AND OTHER PROJECTS

As soon the Jonas Brothers finished their backup performance with Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds, they just jumped right in launching their own “Look Me In The Eyes” concerts series which is a two-year contract series of Jonas Brothers Tours. Its was a series of of performances tirelessly supported by the tweens and teens.

With the smoke barely receding on the previous concert tour’s wrap-up, the brothers are getting ready for the next of the Jonas Brothers tours concert which kicks off in Toronto, Canada.

The brothers are also lined to do their own TV series called J.O.N.A.S which stands for Junior Operatives Networking As Spies. This is just like “Agent: Cody Banks” three folds! Now the fans have something to look forward to by their supporting fans when the brothers tackle dangers and challenges as government under cover agents.

The recent Jonas Brothers tours: “Look Me in The Eyes” concert series was also played over Disney Channel as “Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream”. It is slated to be aired sometime in spring of 2008. Can’t you see the resemblance of this with “Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds” concert movie? The title concept and the re-issue of this part of Jonas Brothers tours sounds similar as compared to the Hannah Montana tours.

WordPress Hosting: What To Look For In A Webhost

Saturday, April 5th, 2008
by Chris Channing

If you are hip on the blogging scene, then no doubt you’ve heard of WordPress. WordPress is one of the most popular blogging platforms around. Likewise, it has become something of a phenomenon as webhosts are now offering WordPress-specific webhosting. The question is- should you go for a generalized host or a WordPress-specific host?

Common Features In WordPress Hosts

First and foremost, WordPress users want a platform that is easy to install. This means that advanced editing of configuration files is out of the question- and webhosts know it. Even general webhosts give access to auto-installers for WordPress, so the initial installation shouldn’t be what worries bloggers.

One big downfall for normal webhosts is their lack of support for recent upgrades. When an important security upgrade comes out, WordPress users need to upgrade their blogs as soon as possible. If they don’t, they may run the risk of losing their entire blog to hackers. With normal webhosts the upgrading can be delayed, since they aren’t specializing in any single product.

Where general webhosts tend to fail bloggers is in the upgrade category. Auto-installers such as Fantastico (packaged with cPanel) offer easy ways to upgrade, but the configurations, themes, plugins, and other content will be lost in the upgrade as files are overwritten. Clearly, WordPress specific hosts get the win here, since they take previously configured files into account when upgrading.

Anyone WordPress user that has been on the front page of websites such as Digg.com know that with excessive demand comes downtime. This is because WordPress is database driven- meaning that if a lot of people are on your blog at the same time, it is bound to go down. WordPress-specific webhosts take this into effect and offer better performance and efficiency at the database level.

Extra Features For WordPress Users

One of the biggest benefits of WordPress hosts is the fact that they tend to offer free content to WordPress users. You shouldn’t be surprised to see free WordPress themes, plugins, and content from these webhosts. Try finding these benefits from normal webhosts- odds are you won’t.

The biggest benefit to webmasters in this case is the exclusivity of the themes that WordPress webhosts provide. Since the themes aren’t open to the general public, there will be very few blogs on the Internet that have the same theme as you do. This will help blog owners to brand their domain name and company identity with ease.

Custom designs for WordPress blogs can easily run hundreds of dollars. As compared to the low fees of a WordPress host, it’s no contest as to which route every WordPress user should take in regards to themes.

In the end, webhosts that specialize their services for WordPress users have some of the best deals around for blog fanatics- or anyone just looking to maintain their own website without the hassle!

All The Popular Jonas Brothers Songs

Friday, April 4th, 2008
by zachjer cuello

The group Jonas Brothers have been performing way back in 2005. Along their career, they achieved to launch two albums namely - It’s About Time and Jonas Brothers. Jonas Brothers songs could characterize with a touch of rock, punk and some of the acoustical soul.

At first Nick Jonas was really the one in the music industry but that all changed from brothers act to a band after a Columbia Records executive heard their song “Please Be Mine”. Other music writers were used during the production of their first album. And these writers have written songs for some well known celebrities like Joss Stone and Beyonce.

After the band was released by Columbia and signed up Hollywood Records, the band released their second album entitled Jonas Brothers. This time the album only contained songs that the Jonas brothers themselves wrote and a few covers. It definitely represents the growth that the band has experienced since 2005. The album contains the following songs: “Kids of the Future”, “Hold On”, “SOS”, “When You Look Me in the Eyes”, “Hello Beautiful”, “Games”, “Hollywood” and “Good Night and Goodbye”.

The band also did other cover songs such as: “6 Minutes” by Lyte Funky Ones, “What I go to School For”, “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, “Kids of the Future”, “I Wanna Be Like You”, and “Take on Me” by A-ha.

Its not just band’s albums that they showed their talents, they also created music for other projects. And in the second season of American Dragon, the band sang the themesong. The Jonas Brothers also recorded for other Disney Projects like the Disney Mania 4 where “Yo Ho” was included. The song “Time for Me to Fly” was a part of the soundtrack Aquamarine. Additional songs they made for Disney Includes “I Wanna Be Like You”, a cover of the song by Louis Prima and the “Girl of My Dreams”.

There is a third album that the band is working on right now and the title is still to be determined. Creating good music is what making the band successful. Tunes that are catchy with some mood of pop and punk.

Journey Band Reborn With Filipino Lead Singer

Friday, April 4th, 2008
by zachjer cuello

Journey band, the multi-platinum rock band of the 70’s has just got a massive shot in the arm: it’s got for itself a new lead singer. Arnel Pineda, a Filipino veteran of music gigs in clubs in the Philippines and Japan, was literally plucked out from the Zoo band (as seen in YouTube) in Quezon City, Philippines, and flown to Marin County to have him auditioned. The rest is the beginnings of a modern Cinderella story.

Arnel Pineda just had two months to let this change of fate sink in and barely two weeks to “acclimatize” himself with the music gods that is Journey Band, and off he went to his baptism of fire: the unforgiving “Monster” of Via del Mar, Chile Festival. 15,000 strong audience who also serve as judges is a tough deal for any seasoned singer. And here comes Journey band’s new and un-acclimatized lead singer, this could be nerve-wracking. The result, however, was more than phenomenal.

At first, the crowd was a bit less receptive, and Arnel Pineda of the Journey band seemed to be having the jitters too. Some would even say he seems to have forgotten the lyrics that he seems to be reading them from a teleprompter (if there ever was).

Eventually, everything started to warm up. But it only got really hot and cozy when the Journey band’s lead singer belted out the very popular ballad, “Open Arms.” Latinos are a very passionate people, Arnel Pineda, a Filipino, sang passionately-and boy, it was awesome. After that song, everything went well like everybody found their comfort zone. The “Monster” was tamed!

Arnel Pineda’s singing of “Faithfully” just caught everyone’s heart with excitement. What used to be doubts of his capability to be with Journey finally disappeared. The “Monster” was transformed to Arnel and the rest of Journey band, claiming their long lost position of the greatest rock bands of all time.

Encore after encore was asked of the Journey band. The last song even took longer to take off because the musical equipment were already either turned off, or disconnected. But man, was it a blast! The feverish crowd, Arnel Pineda finally proving his worth, and the rest of the Journey band finally plugging off any trace of doubt on their new singer’s worth.

Neal Schon was like the over-proud father of a son he introduced to the world, Jonathan Cain (rumored to be not so sold-out with Arnel Pineda) now mouths AP “is the real deal,” Ross Valory constantly flashes that otherwise so rare grin, and Deen Castronovo vows to Arnel Pineda at the end of the show.

Isn’t this just material for a mushy Cinderella story?

What an opposite situation where it is like a Cinderella story for Arnel Pineda while Journey band is the Lazarus who came back from the dead.

Some musical big wigs coined Journey band has become a “Greatest Hits” group. Schon, Cain, Valory, and Castronovo are riding the wave of Journey’s past glorious moments. They attempted some new materials but they did not seem to hit the sales records. They might still posses the admiration of the original fan groups, but this fans base could either go for other bands or genre, or they could just rot and die of being old.

Steve Augeri, and Jason Scot Soto are equally great singers but they simply try to extend Journey band’s life span. With the inclusion of Arnel Pineda, the band is repackaged without losing its old aura. Arnel Pineda’s clear tenor sound, powerful voice and soulful rendition of the song keeps the sound and feel that is “Journey.”

Gradually, Arnel Pineda, as Journey’s lead singer, his contributions to the band doesn’t end there. Being Asian, his vibrant energy, his really “rock” version and style could provide a new way of penetrating the admiration of today’s generation both in America and internationally.

Girl Tattoo Ideas: What You Should Know Before You Get A Tattoo

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
by Reese Lanter

There is no shortage of girl tattoo ideas. With the many resources available online and offline, you will be able to find tattoo designs ranging from the wacky to the classic. Before you do get a tattoo, there are a couple of considerations that you should take note of when it comes to tattoo ideas.

Go to the Right Sources

Deciding to get a tattoo is a major decision you shouldn’t take lightly. You don’t want to make a mistake with your tattoo design because you are stuck with it for life. If you are bent on getting a tattoo, get a design from a reputable source. Here are some possible design sources:

- You have the option of choosing your artist. All artists who would like to maintain a regular clientele build their design portfolios. You should however, opt for an artist who has had real experience tattooing the designs in his gallery. You probably don’t want to be the experimental first client.

- Browse as many tattoo designs from online galleries as you can. Many of these galleries contain hundreds of thousands of categorized designs that you can choose from. If you are a great fan of the art, you may want to sign up for a membership so you can have access to unlimited tattoo designs.

- Girl tattoo ideas can also come from other unusual sources. You may be able to find a good design in a textbook or fantasy book. Some of your friends may also have cool and unique tattoos. Make sure though to consult an experienced tattoo artist about the feasibility of the design of your choice.

Pick One that Matches Your Spot

Not all tattoo designs will look good in every part of the body. There are some body parts that just look better with certain patterns and design sizes. Make sure you consider the spot you want tattooed before settling on a design. Your foot for example may not look very good with a huge design. Girls’ feet will look daintier with small designs. Another example would be tattoo designs on the lower back. You can settle for a small design but that would be useless if your real purpose is to show off your curves. If showing off is what you want, settle for full horizontal designs that stretch over the lower back.

Settle for Something Meaningful

Real ink tattoos are permanent. That means you should rather settle for a design that has some meaning for you. You would probably feel better if you could explain to curious people what the symbols in your body mean. Knowing what your designs mean will also ensure that you need not get stuck with designs that have bad connotations. Pick tattoos that you are sure you will love for the rest of your life.

Don’t Scrimp

Discounted designs and services are everywhere. Just like everything else, you have the opportunity to save a few dollars on your tattoo design. You could for example pick free designs online or settle for a lesser known tattoo artist. You should consider though that you are asking for a service that cannot be undone. If you want a great tattoo, always settle for the best. Don’t scrimp on your tattoo design or artist.

Girl tattoo ideas are everywhere. Do not, however, make the mistake of picking ideas in random. Take your time going through numerous options before settling for a design.

Trust Your Artistic Judgment When You Paint And Draw Perspectives

Sunday, March 30th, 2008
by Michael Dale

The basics about learning to draw and paint perspectives can be found in hundreds of art books…

They are an important guide that helps an artist master the skills of producing art that looks realistic. You will be shown how to draw and paint using horizon lines, vanishing points, viewing points and a whole lot more.

An artist soon gains confidence in their art when they understand how to recreate 3-dimensional form with their drawing. Lifelike paintings are no problem…

* Your picture appears to have depth and substance even though it has been created on a flat surface

* Your pencil drawing shows the reality of mood and atmosphere

* Your portrait painting looks as if the subject could leap from the canvas to shake your hand

However, for an art beginner, perspective drawing can be a mystery.

Even top professional artists are guilty of relying upon perspective rules too much. The best of illustrators can find that the paintings they produce look artificial…

* Objects seem to be distorted

* Extreme flatness is the overall effect

Recognizing your own unique artistic viewpoint is the key to getting the best from perspectives.

You see the world differently from the person standing next to you. Here are some of the reasons why…

* You could be taller or shorter

* Each person has different eyesight… You could be long-sighted while the person standing beside you could be short-sighted

* You will see colors differently… You could have perfect color vision while others are color impaired

When you have a passion for the art subject your interest levels will be high. Your emotional response will result in you producing better quality drawings and paintings. Your artwork will be inspired.

The great advantage of knowing that everyone sees the world around them differently is that you can justify your art. Whatever art critics might say about your painting and drawing, you will know your art is your own view of reality…

Enjoy your drawing and painting… “Art is your own perspective on life”

Draw And Paint Better Pictures… Give them Character And Life!

Friday, March 28th, 2008
by Michael Dale

Artists who try to produce perfect drawings and paintings can easily miss the vital key. When you produce an identical copy the result can look lifeless. The missing art element is

“An interesting picture will give the feeling of life”

When creating an oil painting, an artist will add layer upon layer of paint. The canvas surface is no longer flat and dull. The finished painting will have a dynamic surface that builds interest and personality

“The surface of the painted canvas has depth and texture”

To create great Art involves far more. Each painting has a hidden history

There are thoughts and plans you can’t see. There are ideas and preparations an artist keeps locked away

* There are unknown preparatory drawings that add to a painting’s storyline

* Color sketches hidden in old art folders

* Changes and old ideas hidden by later re-painting

Even if you are an artist who can create exact copies of what you can see, your painting needs you to give more

* Your painting needs understanding and feeling before it becomes Art

* Your painting needs flair and expression to give it character

* Your time and dedication is needed for painting success

If you use photographs, make your painting an impression of what you see. Combine details from one photograph with the background of another. Play with components to create a new reality

* Introduce recollections and memories

* Let your picture tell a story

* Give your painting color

When working from real life, if your drawing shows activity you can get away with a few mistakes. Confident line-work will disguise your drawing faults if your perspectives are out of true

* When you draw a still life picture, the natural sweep of your ink pen can mask slightly distorted vase of flowers

* In pencil figure drawing, lively shading can hide body forms that are wrong

* A quick swish of charcoal will make trees in your landscape sketch move with the wind

* A swirling dash of crayon can capture the power of Sea waves

Easily improve your drawings by letting your pencil marks show. Leave your sketch outlines showing to add more interest.

It is the process of painting that distinguishes an original art creation from a machine produced print copy. Don’t hide your talents

* Allow visible brush marks to show the quality of your oil and acrylic painting skills

* You can lift your paintings with a splash of color

* Allow water to make your watercolors paintings flow

Don’t let your art suffer as an art beginner or intermediate amateur. Take the lead from professional artists and add soul to your drawing and painting

“Let your personality and character shine through”

Avoid Disappointment And Frustration With Good Basic Watercolors!

Friday, March 28th, 2008
by Michael Dale

Having been recently criticized for an incredibly simple 2 stage learn how to paint watercolors course, I have to admit that the critic was absolutely correct…

It was aimed at artist beginners who wanted to learn to paint without having to learn to draw first. This meant that although they may not be too good at drawing, they could still get started painting. Painting landscapes, still-life painting, portraits and mechanical objects can come later.

There are 2 reasons to go right back beyond the basics of painting watercolors…

1. It is a great idea to learn to paint before you try to paint a picture

2. When your painting is going wrong it is good to return to first principles

It is true that there are unusually lucky people. When they pick up a box of paints and a brush they can easily paint their first watercolor landscape painting. They never seem to struggle with their art. Such fortunate people are a minority.

Alternatively, like you and me, most of us aren’t blessed with such talents…

* It isn’t so easy to learn how to paint watercolor well

* At times it can seem impossible to paint watercolor pictures

It isn’t hard to find every brush mark on your painting turns into an awful mess. As you find your watercolor washes flooding uncontrollably, it is easy to create a nightmare of badly blended color.

All too soon you can turn your great art ideas into a muddy shambles. When you do you are lost. Unless you understand what is happening when watercolor paint flows across the paper, your painting will never get better…

* You need to see how the color moves where the water carries it

* Understanding that you will wreck a color wash if you haven’t left it to dry before adding the nest wash

* It is a great idea to learn how to get a range of different color intensities and tone from a single color before adding another color to the mix

There is great sense in the old saying… “Don’t run before you can walk”

Watercolor painting can quickly convince you that you have no artistic talent. It can make you look like you have no painting skills. It is a shame to become disheartened when your watercolors go wrong.

Which do you think is better?

“Disappointment and frustration… or a deep understanding of how simple and easy watercolors work in your painting?”

Learn How To Draw By Sharpening Your Observation Skills

Friday, March 28th, 2008
by Michael Dale

Can it be true when someone says that they can’t draw?

The fact is that people draw every day… they just don’t know they are drawing.

Drawing is like writing. The function of each is to communicate ideas and information. Both drawing and writing is nothing more than the process of making marks onto a surface like paper.

“If you can write… you can draw”

Drawing pictures uses the same skills as writing a message.

You don’t think about what you are doing when you write…

* You are forming lines

* You are drawing circles

* You are creating curves

It is easy for you to write. Writing comes naturally to you. You were taught to write from an early age. The skills come easily to you.

The same skills are used for drawing that you use when you write…

* You can use a series of lines to draw a house

* You use a combination of curves to draw a face

There is nothing to stop you learning to draw. You can learn to draw if you take time and effort to improve your drawing skills.

Take a challenge… Pick up a pen or pencil and draw a cat or a dog. Don’t worry if the result is disappointing. The resulting drawing could look like quite different from a cat or dog.

This is no great surprise to you. You already know that you can’t draw.

But, you may be surprised to learn that a large number of artists would find it difficult to get a true likeness.

When you learn to draw, the real challenge is to improve your observation skills.

As you look more closely at the cat and dog you will see more. Take a close look at the head…

* See the shape of the head

* See how the ears are placed on top

* See the eyes

* Look at the nose

Soon you will have a strong and clear picture in your mind…

“Now, draw your dog or cat once more and you will see a vast improvement”
