How to Lose Weight Fast

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Del Ball

Many believe it is difficult to lose weight fast but I have found a way to lose 20 pounds in 30 days using a liquid diet. The nice thing about a liquid diet is that you will lose weight fast by using a variety of 100 calorie meals.

These meals are made up of protein powder and are various types of meals such as shakes, bars, oatmeal, chilli, soups, drinks, pudding, cocoa, and snacks. It is the variety that keeps you on the diet and allows you to not get bored.

Other liquid diets such as Optifast have limited type of meals, limited to shakes and soups, but the liquid diets at www.newlifestylediet.com are various and therefore make it easier for the dieter to lose weight fast.

The concept that causes people to lose weight fast and not to be hungry is ketosis. Mild ketosis causes the body to lose fat for energy and is safe.

One of the first things that a dieter will notice is that they are not hungry after about two days on this diet since there body will go into mild ketosis. The reason for the mild ketosis is that the dieter is limiting their amount of carbohydrates to under 100 grams per day. Esentially the amount of protein equals the amount of carbohydrates.

In order to burn more fat, a dieter should always try to exercise 20 to 60 minutes per day either on a stationery bike, treadmill, or by walking or jogging. For really fast weight loss, exercise is important.

On this diet you should eat every 2 1/2 hours in order to keep your metabolism moving. You should eat 5 protein meals and 1 Lean and Green meal that is made up of lean protein and vegetables. Salads are the best vegetable on this diet and fish is the best lean protein.

I first hand have lost 25 pounds in 3 months on this diet, it works because a person can easily stay on this diet and not feel hungry. As a person reaches their goal weight they can use the liquid diet meals as “fast food” or 100 calorie snacks. Should they notice weight gain, they can go back on the liquid diet.

The Home Sauna: Your Ticket to Good Health

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Trey W. Ludwig

More than ever, people are looking for ways to improve their health and as health-consciousness grows, so does the search for proven methods of alternative healing. Saunas fall into this category. They have been utilized for a long time by many cultures and anyone who has experienced a sauna knows the value of dry heat for relaxation and health.

While the most common experience people have with a sauna is at their local gym, there are many who are discovering the cost-effectiveness of having a sauna in their own home. Home saunas are cost-effective for two reasons: one, they are becoming more affordable and two, you do not have to go out and pay over and over again for the same sauna service at your local spa or gym.

You can choose from a variety of saunas, depending on what you want:

* Finnish Sauna * Infrared Sauna * Indoor or Outdoor Sauna * Electric or Wood Sauna * Two Person, Four Person, or an even larger Sauna

If you are handy with tools, it is even possible to build your own home sauna. Home saunas are often surprisingly easy to construct and in fact, many can be purchased in pre-arranged packages which require little more than bolting and a small amount of electrical work on your part.

When it comes to your health, a home sauna, particularly the infrared sauna, is worth its weight in gold for the following reasons:

* It is a great stress reliever * It can help reduce body pain * It is known to lower blood pressure * It facilitates the detoxification process

You may not be familiar with an infrared sauna, but it is excellent for your health. As you sit in the sauna the heat goes deeply into your muscles, joints and tissues. It increases blood flow and oxygen flow, it promotes detoxification, which is important because of the increase in toxins in our environment and our bodies.

People enjoy having infrared saunas because of how easy it is to incorporate their use into a hectic schedule. You don’t have to have a full sweat to enjoy the benefits of an infrared sauna. If your time is limited, you can leave the door open and have a minimal sweating experience. It also is a lot easier to breath in an infrared sauna because the air produced is much cooler.

Other Home Sauna Info

* Using skin brushing and the infrared sauna together can help improve conditions such as psoriasis, exema, rough skin and acne. It also improves the cleansing process by helping the skin release toxins and it is beneficial for the elasticity and tone of the skin.

*When you purchase a sauna make sure you have a warranty that covers the heaters for as long as you own it. If your heater goes out it could cost you the price of a new sauna just to replace it.

* Because infrared saunas use less energy and operate at lower temperatures, they are best choice for a home sauna. Lower power bills equal happy purses.

Acid Reflux and Back Pain: Why?

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Peter d Vizard

So it isn’t enough that you have acid reflux, but you have back pain too. People who are suffering from these problems often feel alone and helpless, They struggle and think there is nothing they can do to find relief from their pain.

You have Options

One of the simple treatments for reliving the pain of acid reflux and the back pain that sometimes comes with it, is simple household liquid, vinegar. Try adding a tablespoon of vinegar to your diet, best taken in the morning and , in most cases, will slow the production of acid in your stomach.

You can use Apple cider vinegar instead of normal vinegar. This should give a more palatable taste that you can deal with on a regular basis. It can start working after a few days, but it is important to keep taking on a consistent basis to ensure the pain does not come back.

Another effective idea is to combine antacids and low level pain medication. Antacids will slow the acid reflux while the pain medication will work on the back pain. Antacids are such a mild form of medicine they can be taken safely in with medication such as regular back pain pills.

For the back pain, there are many over the counter drugs that are easily available. Acetaminophen and similar anti-inflammatory drugs are the most suggested, and can show results quickly.

Narcotic pain medications and some muscle relaxant drugs may be used, but these should be considered as a long-term solution, and if used for a prolonged period of time they may actually end up making the condition worse.

For those looking to find relief from acid reflux and back pain should keep the mind open to possible solutions. Due to the large amount of Americans that suffer this disease, many solutions are becoming available. A good doctor will be able to properly assess your condition. You should also keep in contact with them, to monitor the results for improvement so changes can be made quickly to better options.

Bacterial Vaginosis

Millions of women suffer from bacterial vaginosis, so you are not alone in the world having to deal with this problem. In fact, it is the single most common cause of vaginal infection. Be sure to find my link at the end of this informative article to help you on your way to getting rid of bacterial vaginosis.

Bacterial vaginosis is an infection caused by excessive growth of unhealthy bacteria normally present in the vagina. These bacteria are typically harmless and live within the vagina without causing any problems, but, when their numbers increase they may cause any number of symptoms of BV.

One way that women can start an imbalance is by using a douche. It is thought that over douching can lead to BV.

Bacterial Vaginosis is definitely one of the leading causes of vaginal odor. This odor may become more pronounced after having intercourse and often has a fishy vaginal odor.

Sometimes there is a fishy odor often associated with bacterial vaginosis caused by certain bacteria. Many women find that after intercourse the odor is more pronounced.

Women who are sexually active appear to be at greatest risk for developing bacterial vaginosis. But even women who are not sexually active can develop it.

The bacteria that cause BV sometimes can migrate deeper or be pushed deeper and cause a dangerous situation by infecting the uterus and fallopian tubes. This type of infection is called pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID and can cause infertility or damage the fallopian tubes so that the woman may have an increased chance of the risk of ectopic pregnancy and infertility in the future.

Bacteria vaginosis can raise your susceptibility to HIV infection if you are exposed to the virus and BV increases the chances that an you can pass HIV to your sex partner. It can also raise susceptibility to other STDs.

More Tips On Anti-Aging Products

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by James Redder

It is quite normal to expect people to want to look attractive and this might explain why anti-aging skin care products are so successful; when most of us can expect to live longer and have fuller, more active lives, this is hardly surprising. This group of beauty products generally works by enabling the synthesis of collagen, the main protein of connective tissue in animals and the most abundant in our body; collagen makes up approximately 25 percent of the total protein in the skin. Most anti-aging products (collagen included) fall into a category of natural everyday products we all use; this group is called antioxidants which are natural chemicals found in many foods and our body.

You probably know many anti-oxidants by name, including vitamin C, the use of which is still, even now, hotly debated in the science and nutrition community. The main problem when using any skin care treatments which use vitamin C is that oxidization can occur as soon as they have contact with the air.

Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and also cheaper to produce. Unfortunately the anti-oxidant products used to replace vitamin C are not as effective but as vitamin E and lipoic acid can both have the same effect; this is not too much of a problem.

The body uses vitamin E as an antioxidant and is also used to increase the natural defense we have against disease, including many types of cancer, it is a fat soluble vitamin in people’s blood. Lipoic acid is also an energy making component of the body, found in every cell, it can also help reduce the aging process which affects the skin.

The use of plants has not been overlooked either with many able to provide essences called phytochemicals which have proved successful in anti-aging skin care products. A further benefit of these phytochemicals is their ability to prevent the onset of breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer all of which are on the increase globally.

For some time now it has also been known that the vitamins B5, B6 and B12 also have anti-aging skin care properties. This just goes to highlight just how complex and far reaching the whole field of anti-aging skin care products is and why so much more research is required.

In time new discoveries will be made advancing our understanding of the aging process and products that can reduce or reverse the effects more successfully. Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and better and cheaper anti-aging skin care products will be produced.

Fortunately there is a number of natural anti-aging regimes that can be carried out that do not rely on science. You know all these things but how many do you practice? Regular exercise, restful sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and keeping your stress levels low are all necessary.

What Is The Cost Of Lasik Eye Surgery?

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Louis Zhang

An effective and affordable eye care option, Lasik’s eye surgery is becoming more and more popular throughout Canada and the US. The cost of Lasik eye surgery varies quite a bit, depending on the severity of your eyesight and what care you need after the surgery.

While laser eye surgery used to be terribly expensive, it has become more affordable and is now the most popular choice in corrective eye surgery.

The cost of laser vision correction depends a lot on various factors and it varies from place to place. The cost in America is different from that in Canada. Again in America the cost varies from state to state and from provider to provider.

In Canada nearly 50% of laser eye surgery is performed by LASIK MD. Like in the US, the costs vary according to a variety of things. Location, eye condition and many other factors change the cost of Lasik eye surgery.

In determining the price of corrective eye surgery, the cost of the surgery for each eye is calculated separately. In effect, correcting one eye constitutes a single Lasik surgery procedure.

Any new technology that is used in the surgery will also add to its cost. Most of the cost of Lasik surgery is derived from the high cost of the equipment used to conduct the surgery. The location of the surgery and the identity of the surgeon also play a part in determining the cost of the surgery.

Another thing that makes surgery vary in rate is the severity of your eyesight. The worse your vision the more expensive the surgery is likely to be. On the other hand, if your vision is only slightly of, it will be less costly.

You should be cautious about believing advertisements that offer Lasik surgery at the price of five hundred dollars per eye, or a price in that range. Lasik surgery rarely costs that little, and people with severe eyesight problems have to pay much more than that.

While it is possible to have Lasik surgery that costs less than a thousand dollars, these surgeries are done using inexpensive equipment such as excimer lasers or bladed microkeratomes. Such equipment may not produce results that are as good as those achieved by modern equipment such as wavefront technology. The price of surgery that involves wavefront technology ranges from one thousand dollars to two thousand and five hundred dollars.

While the cost of laser eye surgery was exorbitant a few years ago, it has begun to stabilize in recent years and is more reasonable than ever now. The ultimate price you pay for Lasik eye surgery can be a worthwhile investment; it is impossible to put a price on the freedom it offers you from glasses.

Skin Rejuvenation Finding the Right Skin Care Treatment

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Steven McCarthy

When it comes to skin rejuvenation there are many types of products for different skin types, but skin health is definitely one of the most important. Everybody would like to look and feel younger and healthier and as full of life as they possibly can, and this means using the right skin rejuvenation skin care treatment.

Apart from the aging process, wrinkles may occur due to a wide variety of reasons like over exposure to direct sunlight, pollutants, smoking, inadequate sleep and improper diet. If you do really care for a healthy glowing wrinkle-free skin, you must care not to get exposed to these factors along with a regular use of reputed skin rejuvenation skin care products.

However, you should not just buy any skin rejuvenation skin care products off the counter without really studying their ingredients and their possible effects on your skin. You must understand that some types of skin care products can have nasty side effects.

A good skin rejuvenation skin care treatment can really make a huge difference in the appearance of aging facial skin. First you need to determine what type of skin you have: oily, dry, or normal to combination skin. This is important because for different types of skin you are going to have to come up with a different skin rejuvenation skin care treatment.

Always remember that skin care products that are not suited for your type of skin can actually do more damage than good on your skin. To avoid causing further damage on your skin, you need to be extra careful when buying skin care products.

Since skin rejuvenation skin care products are able to nourish your skin health from inside, the improved quality of your skin texture can be observed from outside as well. Apart from internal treatment, most skin rejuvenation skin care products offer SPF protection. These products usually act like a great shield against environmental pollutants and sunlight.

The damaging effects of the suns UV rays on unprotected skin is the leading cause of skin aging and should be taken seriously. By wearing a sunscreen of at least SPF 45 you can block 90% of the damaging UV rays from getting through to your skin. Make sure you apply it liberally and often, if your doing strenuous physical activities you will need to reapply more often because of sweating.

The excess oil in skin care products that are designed for women will cause clogging of the pores in men’s skin. Clogging of the pores can lead to skin irritation like acne. To avoid this scenario, you should only use products that are designed and formulated for your type of skin.

Vitamins Can Help, If You Know How To Use Them

Sunday, April 27th, 2008
by Jamaal Harrison

We lead busy and stressful lives and rarely eat as we should. We also eat a diet that is far from natural and is highly processed that may be very deficient in essential vitamins and minerals. Because of this, many people resort to supplements and vitamin pills to make up for missing nutrients, but there is some risk in supplementing. Supplements can be great for replacing nutrients that were processed away, but too much of some of them may be toxic. Since the liver filters out toxins from the blood, it is important to assess its health and function. One indicator of this is the LSI, or liver somatic index, test. Blood constantly flows through the liver and excess toxins put strain on it, as can excesses of certain supplements. Doing an LSI once in awhile helps make sure all is well with the liver. We know we cannot be healthy unless our liver is doing well. It must be able to do the job of disposing of toxins in the blood for us to be well. An example of the problem can be seen in persons who have abused alcohol and damaged their livers. Too much alcohol means a liver that simply cannot do its filtering and other jobs. Your doctor is your best source of information about which vitamins and other supplements you need to take. This way you do not end up with toxic overdoses or spend a fortune on things you really do not need. Blood tests can determine nutrient levels. Certain medications may even interact with vitamins so expert medical advice is really important. Whatever laboratory tests are needed can tell whether there is a cause for concern. The doctor will help you decide exactly which supplements you should or should not take.

Is a Slimming Patch an Effective Diet Aid?

Saturday, April 26th, 2008
by Jo Johannson

Slimming patches are a fairly new addition to the world of slimming and weight loss. It’s arguably a simpler and faster way to administer the same ingredients found in the leading slimming pills, tablets and supplements.

A Slimming Patch uses a transdermal delivery system - a fancy way of saying the ingredients go through the skin.

An advantage of a slimming patch is that it is ‘always on’ so you don’t need to remember when to take your slimming pills. It’s also slow releasing, and delivers the correct dose at all times. Finally, a patch worn under the garments is discreet, so no-one has to know you’re wearing a slimming patch.

In most cases, slimming pills have to be taken around meal times and food intake, which can make them somewhat restrictive. Whereas slimming patches are quite the reverse - with meal times governed by the patch.

Do Slimming Patches Really Work?

Of course, there’s a lot of controversy over whether wearing a slimming patch on your skin will actually allow enough fat reducing, fat blocking, fat binding or appetite-suppressing ingredients into the body to be an effective weight loss method.

Some slimming pills, tablets or supplements do offer tremendous benefits to the overweight or obese… But is a slimming patch any more than a marketing gimmick, simply devised to sell more products?

The FDA in the United States is currently taking some of the leading slimming patch manufacturers to task in an attempt to restore some kind of legislation.

In the same way the slimming tablet market seems to be a free-for-all, the slimming patch market seems to be following suit with more outrageous claims appearing daily with little or no clinical evidence to substantiate them.

Do Slimming Patches Have Side Effects?

Every product that’s consumed or ingested can carry slight risks. Some of the claims made by slimming patch manufacturers would have you believe that because the medicine is applied on the outside, it’s completely side-effect free.

This is not the case - it is important to understand exactly what it is you are introducing into your body.

Should I Use a Slimming Patch?

Absolutely, a slimming patch could give you the same long-term weight loss benefit as one of the top slimming pills, as well as being more convenient. As with anything, look for a brand and a slimming patch you can trust.
