The Story Behind Rhonda Byrne’s “the Secret”
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008Haven’t we all had bad days once in a while? I know I have. Consider Rhonda Byrne for a moment. She didn’t have a bad day; she had a bad YEAR. As if struggling financially wasn’t enough, she lost her father, and her business was failing. As luck would have it, her daughter handed her a book one night that would lead to a life-changing production. Rhonda had found The Secret, and she wanted the world to know!
As soon as possible, Rhonda Byrne gathered her production crew to tell them about a feature-length film she had in mind. She had no budget, but she had faith, and she convinced her crew to have faith as well. She told them not to focus on the “how”. They were only to focus on the outcome, a successful movie. Sometimes she caught herself thinking about the how rather than the outcome, and she would have to bring her mind back into focus.
One such time when focusing on the outcome paid off was toward the end of production when Rhonda wished she would’ve asked for close-ups of people during interviews. She could only afford one camera throughout production, so having a second angle wouldn’t have been possible. One day two camera men accidentally showed up, so the second one decided to focus his camera on faces. The faces he captured were exactly the ones Rhonda wanted at the end of production!
Rhonda Byrne once said, “Faith is total heart trust without knowing with your mind.” That’s part of what the secret is all about, and part of why she began production on the movie without any money. She had faith in herself and chose to focus on the goal rather than how she would reach the goal.
Are you flat broke without a penny to your name? You are if you think you are! By focusing on statements like “I’m broke,” is a negative way to live your life. By focusing on the positives, you’ll force yourself to be more than you are at the moment.
Life is challenging. We each face unique problems day after day. The Secret is a way to overcome challenges, because you fill your heart with love rather than heartache and worry. Rhonda was barely scraping by, but that didn’t stop her from giving away her money to people on the street. It changed the focus of money from negative to positive.
To have The Secret, you must first have focus. What do you want? What would you like to become? Turn those thoughts into a mental laser beam, and ignore all the negative thoughts in your mind. Figure out what it is you really want, and then focus your mind on it like a laser beam. Ignore everything else. Rhonda wanted so much for the whole world to know the focus secret that she gave away MILLIONS of DVDs before the movie even started making money!
Take action! It’s the only way to get what you want. You can focus on flying all day long, but until you build a plane, you’ll never leave the ground. Rhonda Byrne took action with The Secret. She didn’t advertise in newspapers and on major networks. She put out online trailers and let the word of mouth spread like wildfire. Focus and action are the keys to The Secret.
