The Power Of Ebook Marketing

Monday, February 11th, 2008
by Yomi A

The power of ebooks is once they have been downloaded to your computer, they stay there until you delete them. I can honestly say all the ebooks on my computer stay. You just never know when you might need to open one of them up. They can be read and reread multiple times as long as choose to. You will never find ebooks on dusty shelves in your home.

Another wonderful quality is that ebooks have no barriers in terms of publishing. You don’t need to go through the endless process of submitting your manuscript over and over again, and then once you land an agent, having the agent submit your manuscript over and over again. Nor do you have to shell out thousands of dollars for printing a self-published book. All ebooks require is a writer and appropriate software. Figure out your market, write your book, post it on your website, and with the right business savvy, your audience will come to you.

Did you know you have creative control over your ebook. You don’t have to worry about editors ripping apart your ideas and thoughts that you conveyed in your book. The publishing trends have changed now. You are in the drivers seat when it comes to the creative process of your book. Design your layout and text to your liking. No more dealing with copy editors choosing a layout your unhappy with it. It’s all up to decide how the look and feel of you ebook will be.

Marketing And Promoting Your Ebook

You can drive tons of traffic when you use ebooks to market and promote your business. You can break your ebook down into chapters and create a mini-course. Send the mini-course via email and when they complete the course, you can have them download the whole book. Use your ebook as a gift for users who tell their friends or after filling out a survey. There are so many promotional ideas you can use to distribute your ebook. The possibilities are endless.

Copyright your ebook so that you are the only one who can offer your visitors a unique tool or product. This will drive quality traffic to your site and people wanting to download your ebook.

Keep your ebook up-to-date as the market and trends change. Show your readers new techniques or offer new advide. Show them how your services or products can improve their lives. Being constantly updated with new trends and techniques, you will continue to see more profits from your ebook long after the original creation of it.

Another advantage of ebooks is that they provide you with an invaluable way to gather marketing information, which you can use in many different facets of your business. You can learn about your target markets habits and needs over time, without risking all of your time and financial resources. This is by far the most cost effective way to test the marketing potential of your ebook without using all or none of your cash at all.

Use your ebook to discover what the specific goals and problems are in your specific industry. Then figure out how to solve these problems, and publish an ebook with this invaluable information. This will increase the value of your business, upgrade your reputation, and get you known as an expert in your field.

You can break down your ebook into chapters or a mini-course. This will extend the value of your ebook and you offer your readers valuable content over a period of time. Including a form in your ebook gives your audience a way to contact you with information and questions. This helps to build relationships and increase your mailing list.

Using ebooks in this manner helps to cut the cost of individually producing separate promotional materials. You can use a single ebook to entice new prospects and to sell new products to your current customers.

Ebooks are the best medium to offer this kind of flexibility and room for expansion. Your possibilities are limited by your imagination. So don’t procrastinate, go out there and create your ebook now!

How Cartoons Can Be A Positive Influence In The Schools

Monday, January 28th, 2008
by Rick London

The children of our current generation, admittedly are more sophisticated than we were, we, being the baby boomer generation. We felt we were the most insightful generation ever. Of course every generation has its share of egotism. That was obviously prevalent in ours (the baby boomers)

Graduation is not the same as being “born again”. There is no bright light tunnel-to-heaven glowing light experience. It is a very long process of day in and day out learning of skills through books, socializing, and other experiences.

Modern day education’s origins are from the Greek word “educare” which means “to draw out”. The ancient Greeks felt that the child already had the seed of knowledge in them, and a good educator simply spent time drawing that knowledge out, rather than pushing it in. Many, but of course not all, of today’s educators are ego-driven and have forgotten the real meaning of education and use their teaching platform as a pulpit to share how very smart they are. This is how we can immediately sense a progressive teacher, that is, one who understands educare, as opposed to one who does not.

Kids are also a bit more cynical, question authority, aware of their environment, and more often than not, are on the same stage as the teacher. They do not look at the classroom as some kind of “mystical experience” as our generation did. Many of them look at it as a part of their day, and understand they are going through a process that helps them reach adulthood. Most of us, at least in my circle, hadn’t really a clue as to why we were there. The idea of “so we could go to college” was instilled in our minds, but we really didn’t understand the meaning of the value of that.

Distractions, often too many, take away from the focus of learning today They, like us, have shortcuts to knowledge, same as we (adults) do, such as the Internet. The Xerox television commercial of the teacher telling the students that getting a book published is tough because it takes money, and a student raising his hand and debating that due to the new print on demand process, exemplifies that.

One thing that kids still have in common that they have had for generations is they enjoy humor, at least most. Many progressive educators are using educational cartoons to “lighten up the learning process” and even major textbook publishers are utilizing such cartoons in their books. They know that kids tend to be more visually than verbally-oriented. A picture draws their attention. A funny picture draws their attention even more.

Their knowing that their instructor may enjoy a good laugh as well, helps bond the students to the teacher and can make the learning process that much easier. Humor is a great conflict-resolver as well.

The feedback we are getting at Londons Times Cartoons is very positive from both the school system and the textbook publishers. They often purchase the rights at a very low fee to use cartoons on ever topic from biology to pet care. They tell us it really makes a difference and I believe it.

Art Licensing: The Real Money In Cartooning

Sunday, January 13th, 2008
by Rick London

In my ten years of cartooning, people often want to talk about the money. They say things like, “You must be rich with all those newspapers you are in.” In the first place, I’m not in that many newspapers and not even syndicated. Even if I was in syndication, that is not where the money is in cartooning. Speaking of syndication, the lottery has better odds.

The real money in funny pictures is in art licensing. Art licensing is a huge business, almost 100 billion dollars per year, yet not many know about it. Basically it is the process of putting an art image on a manufactured product from lunch boxes to tshirts to greeting cards. Most of the public rarely sees this business activity as they are too busy buying the end product.

Art licensing can work in a variety of ways. It can be an individual artist approaching a manufacturer with an image that the artist feels will make the manufacturer’s products sell better. Sometimes a deal is made, more often not. When it is, the artist receives a negotiated royalty, a percentage of each sale. There are other types of licensing that work with sponsorships, such as an oil company sponsoring Nascar and they get to put their logo on an actual race car.

When an artist is in negotiation with a manufacturer, it is usually through a licensing agency. They have their own association called LIMA.

But what if the artist is not traditional. Maybe he/she is a cartoonist. Sometimes deals are done the opposite way in this situation. A manufacturer of, say collectible clocks or lunch boxes will approach Disney and ask for the exclusive licensing deal on that product for a certain image or series of images.

I started out a very unknown. Even in my own region so trying t conquer the world was out of the question. I decided to contact some regional peroidicals that were in dire need of quality comics with their articles and sold them for what I could. I slowly built a portfolio and finally was able to take it to a manufacturer/drop-shipper who was willing to take a chance and make the products with a royalty split. I did not have a licensing agent so my attorney handled the contract for me. It is always a good idea, if your strength is in art and not numbers to have a professional in another area (like an attorney or agent) do that part of the job.

In time I discovered more manufacturers who made different products than my first ones and was able to make deals with them, using the same contract.

The old-school tradition of cartooning was dictated by the big syndication firms. First you become syndicated, then you get to sell your products and create wealth. Those days are gone thanks to the Internet. One can enter the field in the way one feels comfortable. I am yet to be officially syndicated though my cartoons appear worldwide on a daily basis.

The Internet has opened all kinds of doors for the new and even veteran cartoonist who wants to be published with Ezines, blogs, and thousands of commercial websites that want a humor section on their site to attract customers. It takes a lot of legwork and it doesn’t happen overnight. But it is worth the trouble.

In 1997, I began my cartoon venture metal warehouse in rural Mississippi. I could not even afford a website and didn’t even know how to work the Internet, much less a computer. I bought some of those “For Dummies” books and learned as I worked. Now I have eight domains, seven stores with almost 80,000 products in about 100 different categories , and the most visited offbeat cartoon site on the Internet, Londons Times Cartoons with over 8500 original images and almost 9 million visitors. That’s not so bad for ten year’s work, at least not for me.

Did I pay a price? Sure. Anyone does who sets his or her goal high. Was it worth it? I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

This Will Be Bigger Then Google Adsense!

Friday, January 4th, 2008
by David Baker

Let’s face it adsense is becoming past tense and nonsense for many webmasters. I am always looking out for new ways for my readers to make more money online with less effort. Recently I came across a new innovation that you need to hear about because it may affect the way you earn with your website in the very near future.

Webmasters (especially adsense publishers), are you tired of not getting paid on your hard earned traffic? Do you agree that adsense sucks? Would you be excited to know that there are now big coorperate players willing to pay you for every visitor to your web site? Yes, it’s true and you can get a head start on it today. Keep reading.

Can you imagine that? Getting paid on every single visitor to your website. This is a true milestone that will now allow for content for it’s own sake instead of for the sake of google adsense traffic. This could very easily surpass all other forms of advertising combined, including radio and television! Adsense may soon be seeing some serious competition.

Deep inside, I knew this was bound to happen at some point. The Internet is becoming a real contender to the traditional television and radio advertising. At this moment I am truly inspired to share with you my fellow webmasters and adsense publishers the birth of one of the internet’s newest innovations. Due to it’s growing popularity the internet has driven a growing mass of people away from the influence of traditional television and radio advertising. Big name advertisors such as Harley Davidson, HBO & Taco Bell are now willing to pay you on 100% of your website traffic. This will help make up for the loss of viewers that TV networks are now experiencing.

It’s all about having a share of people’s attention that will make this new and innovative form of advertising effective. This is geared to rival the Google Adsense program because it pays for all your traffic and is upfront about your percentage.

If you weren’t getting paid on 100% of your traffic with the Google Adsense you weren’t getting paid what you can now. This is all about getting paid on 100% of your traffic. There is no gimics or tricks and it’s a very real possibility for you to look into now.

First there was the ability to get paid on click through advertising with programs such as Google Adsense. They paid you a small percentage of actually revenue earned from visitors who click on sponsored ads. Now come the “Pay Per Play” generation which pays you for every visitor to your web site. NO CLICKS REQUIRED!

Did you know that Pay Per Play will be delivering advertising to an audience larger the Television, radio and print media? The big names in advertising plan on spending billions on Pay Per Play advertising. Have you reserved your chunk of the pie?

It’s about time that major television networks are losing their advertising revenue to the internet. Billions of advertising dollars that was formerly flagged for tv is now being redirected towards the internet. This is the first time in history that big television has had to contend with advertising competition from the internet allowing web site owners to grab their share of ad revenue. This is better then Google Adsense. What have you done to secure your share of the pie?

To Help Yourself, You Must First Help Others

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Steven E, a book publisher and the bestselling author of “Wake Up…Live the Life You Love” series, has over 20 books in print. Fourteen of those books have been bestsellers. He is one of the leading experts in the movie “Pass It On”, and he lives his life helping people awaken to their full potential on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level.

Finding your life’s purpose early is the best thing you can do for yourself. When Steven E was 21 years old, he heard an inner voice telling him to write a book. The voice was so strong, it awakened him from his sleep. He wrote a book, and he knew right from the start it would sell millions. Now he publishes books, has CDs and scheduled speaking engagements.

It’s magical the way people start showing up in your life to help you when you’ve found your purpose. Steven helps others so he can help himself, and he believes it will work for everyone. He first tried this method by recruiting 55 people to contribute to a book he was writing. In what he calls “team publishing,” everyone was able to get published at the same time.

Compare team publishing to opening a new business with investors. Imagine you’re opening a coffee shop. All of your investors will surely invite their friends and family to the grand opening, and you’ll reap the profits and word of mouth advertising to follow. Book publishing is the same way. Everyone who contributes to your book will tell everyone they know about it. Sales are almost guaranteed.

Steven E believes the key is to help others first. When he introduces himself, he says, “Hi. I’m Steven. How can I help you?” This introduction catches people off guard and breaks the ice. They’re free to find out who you are and how you can be of benefit to them. At the same time, you can devise a way to help yourself by helping them.

When you find out what others need, helping them will form a bond with them. They will refer you to all of their contacts and help you get noticed by jointly setting up speaking engagements, book publishing, and so on. This type of marketing can even be seen in the small business world. Perhaps you’re a massage therapist? Offer your services to people free of charge. They will tell all of their friends about you, and you’ll soon have more clients.

If you plan to publish a book, be aware that major publishers only pick up major authors. It’s rare to see an unknown rise to the top of a major publishing company. Steven E says you’ll almost always have to self-publish. You’re going to need to figure out your own marketing strategy, and his advice is to start small with a business card approach. If you hand out a business card, you’re just another face in the crowd. If you hand out a book, you’re an “expert.”

Handing out books helps set you up for residual incomes. People are much more likely to talk about your book than they would be to talk about your business card. Build even more credibility by contributing to a major author’s book. You’ll help the major author add content and perspective to his work, and at the same time, your name will be seen by people who otherwise would never know you.
