wedding gifts for him

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Resa Heart

Your wedding day is one that you will not forget. It is traditional that the bride and groom buy each other gifts as a way of celebrating the beginning of their new life together. However, women often like gifts that shimmer and shine. Men on the other hand generally prefer a gift that is more practical and that they will be able to use on a regular basis. So this leaves the question of what to buy your groom for that special day.

At first glance, it might seem difficult to choose that perfect wedding gift for your groom. However, with some simple thought and planning, it may just be easier than you once thought. For instance, if your soon to be husband carries a lot of items in his pocket, such as keys, change, pocket knife etc. then a keepsake box may be just what he needs. You can purchase a wooden keepsake box where he can put his personal items in each night. If you would like to the make the gift even more special, you can consider having it personalized. You can simply choose a special saying that means something to the two of you or have your names and wedding date engraved on the box.

For the executive, nothing announces his success more than a pair of silver cuff links. Of course if silver is not his style, no worries, you can find cuff links in a variety of styles and materials. And let’s not forget that a set of cuff links can come in very useful on the day of your wedding if you are having a formal wedding wherein the guys are wearing suits.

If your guy cooks, you are a lucky girl! Beyond getting well fed, it also gives you a variety of gift ideas. Maybe you’ll get him a very nice grilling set. Or maybe you’ll get him one of those very expensive outdoor grill/kitchens if you can afford it and you have a home to park it at. Guys love grilling.

If you are looking for a more traditional wedding gift, consider giving your groom a watch. You can choose a watch that will match your groom’s personality and style. To add an extra special touch to the gift, have a message engraved on the back of the watch.

The important thing is not to stress over a gift for your groom. Enjoy this tradition as part of the wedding process and also consider getting a personalized gift. There are several great on-line stores that do personalization without additional charge.

You’ll get many good ideas just by thinking of all your fiance’s favorite activities. Select a present that has utility for his lifestyle and he’ll love it for sure. Regardless of what you end up giving your groom, he’ll appreciate that you thought about him.

Do You Wish You Understood Anxiety?

Thursday, February 28th, 2008
by Paul Forcey

Anxiety can be hard to understand as people who have anxiety attacks often withdraw into themselves and pull away from their friends and family. This withdrawal from social activities and interactions can make it hard for others to get a understanding of anxiety.

When two people encounter the same situation they will both react differently, they will have different feelings and different emotional reactions to exactly the same situation. This is why understanding anxiety can be hard for some people. If you are the sort of person who brushes everything off and doesn’t let anything worry you it can be hard to understand people who get scared and apprehensive of things that don’t worry you.

Understanding anxiety can be hard as there are many different types of anxiety that a person can suffer from and some are actually more severe than others. The more severe the anxiety then the longer the symptoms associated with the condition last and the way in which the person behaves can become more and more erratic.

Anxiety is a state of mind but it can have huge affects on peoples physical health as well as their mental health. People with the most common form of anxiety , Generalized Anxiety Disorder, make up as much as 5% of the population in the USA. These figures show that anxiety is a much bigger problem than most of us realize.

It is not rare for anxiety to be just one of many medical problems that a person suffers from. When someone has a number of physical and possibly mental health issues it can become hard for a medical professional to spot anxiety in amongst them. Anxiety and depression are two health issues that are often found together.

Some of the symptoms that a anxiety sufferer will display can greatly affect not just them but everyone in their social circle as well as family members. Restless, edgy and irritable - These symptoms can lead to confrontations with family members. Sleeplessness - Days or weeks with little sleep will compound the physical problems that anxiety sufferers often experience.

Working for a living usually brings its own pressures, targets and deadlines to meet , meetings to go to and sometimes work colleagues that are not that pleasant. Most of us don’t let these problems bother us long term, if you have a anxiety disorder you won’t be able to help but let them take over your mind and build up and up until you can’t face work anymore.

The two most important steps in starting down the road to recovery are realizing that this is not some one off event but a illness and making an appointment with your Dr.

Anxiety like any mental health issue is more complicated than it seems, it can be affected by something as simple as a diet or lifestyle change. You must be totally honest with your Dr when you go to see him tell him what you eat and drink as well as whether you are on any other medication (prescribed or not).

Tattoos For Women: Growing Up, Not Growing Old

Monday, February 25th, 2008
by Tim Croy

If you believe everything you see in the media, you might think that no one over the age of 25 has a tattoo. Many of the young, hip celebrities on news shows and magazine covers are tattooed, and it’s easy to assume that their older counterparts are not. But if you take a closer look, you’ll see that tattoos for women are just as prominent.

A tattoo can be a great way of keeping yourself feeling young. We all do some things that we regret in our wild days, but we also do some things we’re glad we did and that we want to remember. If you didn’t get a tattoo when you were younger, what better time than now?

Women grow older, but they also mature intellectually in the process. They have to learn to make responsible decisions, and consider other people, particularly family members, in those decisions. One excellent way for a woman to announce her devotion to a life partner or child is to get a tattoo related to them.

Just as with deciding to marry or raise a child, getting a tattoo is a permanent decision. This comparison also makes it easy to understand why these two decisions can be so complementary. Getting a tattoo featuring your husband or partner’s name is one more example of a prominent display of commitment to him or her, and is literally akin to wearing your heart on your sleeve.

People with children understand that a mother’s love for her children is like no other. Just like tattoos are indelible, this love is also indelible. For this reason, being tattooed with your child’s name is an excellent way to show the world your pride and your love for your child.

But being a woman is not just about making sacrifices for others. Getting a tattoo is a unique way of showing your dedication to someone else, but it can also be an indulgence for you. Maybe you have a special memory - a date, or a place, or a favorite quote - that you never want to forget. Get it tattooed!

Perhaps you feel pressured by your age, and want to re-experience some of the rebellious freedom of your carefree youth. The best way to symbolize this is with a tattoo, which is a powerful reminder to people that you are still young at heart.

Tattoos for women are as unique as the women who get them. Because your individual experiences have changed your life completely, you can use tattoos as a way to relate the amazingly unique story of your life.

Sexy Girl Tattoos Can Be Whatever You Wish

Monday, February 25th, 2008
by Tim Croy

What does it mean to be sexy? The answer to that question depends on whom you ask. Some people might say that sexy means blonde, some might say brunette, and some might say redhead. There’s no standard measure of sex appeal. But one thing seems universal: sexy girl tattoos are hot.

The actual part of a tattoo that makes it sexy is difficult to adequately describe. One aspect of it is that the tattoo culture has changed significantly. In past years, usually only men got tattooed. Those women who are adventurous enough to breach this gender barrier indicate their rebellious natures, which many men find to be very appealing.

Large numbers of men consider rebellious women to be attractive. They seek women who are uninhibited about being just a little wild or daring, and who isn’t afraid to do something a little crazy once in a while. Getting a sexy tattoo is one of the best ways to demonstrate your decisive nature and readiness to have some fun. You can express your brave and daring personality to men without having to say even a single word.

Selecting the perfect design is one very important factor that results in sexy tattooing. Let’s face it, certain artwork is simply sexier than other designs. If, however, you are set on finding a tattoo that will appear sexy to you throughout your entire life, consider a generic tattoo. One possibility is a sun that circles your nave, or a plain geometric design on the lower portion of your back. Either of these tattoos will probably work well to achieve this goal.

The location is the other main component of sexy tattooing. Location, location, location, is the critical rule, just like in real estate. Sexy tattoos must be seen, but not always placed in the most obvious locations. This is perfect for attracting a man’s attention, and engaging him in interesting conversation.

One of the most popular places is the lower back. Women choose this part of their body for many reasons. Men are naturally attracted to this area, because it is curvaceous and covered in smooth skin. Men are already looking, and a sexy tattoo will only hold their interest.

Consider another attention-getting alternative, such as getting a tattoo on your hip. Surprisingly, ankles, which many women fail to perceive as erogenous, are also a great place to get a tattoo.

Whichever design or location you decide on, don’t forget that sexy girl tattoos are involve much more than mere ink. The attitude is the primary important factor. Therefore, when you finally select a design and get tattooed, display it with pride - and a little attitude too!

Looking Forward To Spring’s Activities

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008
by Resa Heart

In late winter I’m fed up with the cold. We are still a good six weeks away from warmer weather. But it’s important not to get too caught up in the current bleak winter surroundings and rather look forward to Spring. Soon the snow will melt and the first robins will return to let me know I’ve made it through another winter.

Soon the first signs of Spring turn into an all out assault of color and warmth. Who can blame us for wanting to celebrate during this season? When I think of Spring I think of young men and women either graduating from high school or college or getting married at a wedding ceremony.

If you’ve got family members soon to graduate (like a niece or nephew) you are sure to get a graduation party invitation. If you are lucky, you will be invited to a laid back event held in the backyard where the fare is simple but full of favorite foods and you can come and go when you want.

Weddings are more formal affairs. Months go into planning. From scheduling a photographer, finding a venue to hold the reception and, for the bride, finding the perfect dress, getting it fit and then finding all the accessories can take more time than one could possibly imagine.

We own a house that has a very large backyard and the kids want to have their reception here. We are making our backup plans now in case the weather doesn’t cooperate but overall I think it will work out well.

Outdoor weddings like this are best done during the day and in locales where it isn’t likely to be too hot or too windy. Because the crowds tend to be larger for a wedding than for a graduation party, you’ll need to be sure your house can hold the group should foul weather sneak up on you.

One thing to consider in budgeting your wedding is whether you want the groomsmen and bridesmaids to all look exactly alike. Traditional bridesmaid dresses are floor length and can end up useless after the event. However in letting the gals have more flexibility in what they wear (groomsmen too) you can end up with a simple yet elegant wedding.

You should do a little planning for the reception and storage of gifts brought to either a wedding or a graduation party. With people coming and going and so many paths to exit from the celebration, you don’t want an uninvited person coming by to make off with important gifts.

I can’t wait for Spring. Weddings and graduations make us look to the future and dream big dreams. It’s a lovely time for all.

Springtime Is For Flowers, Birds And Gift Giving

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008
by Resa Heart

Every February I look for the first robin. It’s a spring ritual of mine. And with the return of the robins, I know that spring flowers and green lushness of trees leafed out cannot be far behind. I love spring - I think most people do. And maybe it’s the happiness of making it through another harsh winter as our ancestors did that causes us to look for any reason for a celebration of life. We plan weddings and we see young adults graduate and many many more events.

Parties are fantastic ways to celebrate life an maybe it’s this joy that caused the tradition of gift giving to develop. I’m not sure how it all started but gifting is expected on most of these events.

Because it’s Spring I love to focus on bright and uplifting gifts. Something that speaks to my love of nature, my zest for life.

If you are looking for a gift for a spring wedding, and the new couple is starting a new home together, they could probably use some items to make the outside of their home colorful. Some hand held garden tools such as a trowel and gardening gloves would make a unique gift. Maybe the couple isn’t the gardening type, but all couples will likely find themselves entertaining guests. Colorful, inexpensive picnic-ware, such as plates, tumblers, pitchers, and serving dishes can be added to a picnic basket or table cloth to inspire that outdoor barbecue.

I have a son who has recently graduated from college. He loves to golf so for him, the perfect graduation gift with an outdoor theme is something for his passion for the sport. While he’d love the newest driver, even a nice towel for his bag would be a special treat. As a young man, when he’s outdoors he always brings his ipod so getting him a nice ipod holder to discretely hold the ipod would be much appreciated.

Kids love spring more than anyone. After spending hours indoors at school and then hours indoors after school as well, they can’t wait to break out and play outside for a while. My daughter’s birthday falls in spring, and she has received beach towels, sand toys, and pool toys for gifts. Other gift ideas would be anything to get kids outside playing, such as hula hoops, jump ropes, bicycle bells, sidewalk chalk, and flower seeds. We all know spring can also bring rainy weather. To brighten up those stormy days, consider giving a new, brightly colored umbrella or rain coat.

Spring is that wonderful time of year when it’s not too hot or too cold and the world is alive with color and new life. May your spring gift giving be inspired by this wonderful time of year.

Cellulite Reduction: Here’s A Proven Plan Of Attack

Friday, February 1st, 2008
by Lisa Adams

If you are one of the millions of women who have spent money on cellulite creams and lotions, let me ask you a question … did they work?

For your sake, I hope they did, because no woman wants cellulite, particularly on their thighs and rear ends. Cellulite is present on just about every woman over the age of puberty, and there are hereditary factors at play as well. It’s just that some of us have more visible cellulite than others.

And for those of you that have plunked down your hard earned cash for so-called miracle cellulite solutions that haven’t worked, let’s talk about real solutions. It’s very easy to buy into hype. Unfortunately, hype doesn’t have staying power. If you’re finding your cellulite has staying power though, here’s some straight talk facts and an action plan to finally reduce cellulite.

First off, cellulite is fat. There, we said it. Cellulite is fat just like any other fat, except it usually looks worse. Even though we’re bombarded every day by marketing messages claiming an instant miracle cure to melt away fat, all those pie in the sky promises do is leave you disillusioned and disappointed.

If you’re finally ready to get past the instant cure mindset, you can indeed significantly reduce cellulite. Will getting results mean changing your lifestyle? Yes, probably. Will reducing cellulite mean you’ll have to work at it a bit? Definitely. But if you carry through with a sound, reasonable action plan, will you see the results you want? Absolutely!

OK … here’s an action plan to help you reduce cellulite, once and for all. First, let’s talk about your diet. Not a diet, YOUR diet. Don’t go on a fad diet that says you have to eat celery and carrot sticks (you get the point). That’s not reasonable and you won’t stick with it. My recommendation is to change your lifestyle gradually. Eliminate one fast food meal per week and pack a healthy lunch instead. Substitute a glass of water for that latte or soda once per day. Little changes add up over the course of time. If your goal is more near term, implement these changes more quickly.

Next, you’ll need to commit to some aerobic activity. It really isn’t that hard, and we’ve got an easy to follow, but challenging, treadmill workout that’ll really burn calories and tone your problem cellulite areas. Here goes …

Plan for a 45 minute treadmill workout. If you’re just starting or have restrictions, substitute walking for running in our example. A friend and I have been doing this workout for 6 months, and it’s an outstanding fat burning workout. For the most part, you’ll break up the 45 minutes into 5 minute intervals to keep things fun, fresh, and challenging. Spend the 45 workout doing this:

1. 5 minute warm up walk at whatever speed is comfortable for you.

2. 5 minute walk at the same speed but with the treadmill incline at 5 degrees.

3. 5 minute jog, incline at 5 degrees, at a speed that requires you to jog.

4. 5 minute walk at treadmill incline 5 degrees.

At this point, you’ve completed 20 minutes, your heart rate is up, and you’re warmed up. Excellent! Now it’s time for 15 minutes of interval training. This will be more challenging, but should be easy to do since it’ll be in 3 minute increments. 3 minutes x 5 intervals = 15 minutes.

Interval One: Run/Jog 1 minute at treadmill incline 6 degrees. Now walk two minutes, reducing speed but leaving the treadmill incline at 6.

Interval Two: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 7 degrees, walk 2 minutes at incline 7.

Interval Three: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 8 degrees, walk 2 minutes at the same incline.

Interval Four: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 9 degrees, walk 2 minutes also at 9 degrees.

Interval Five: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 10 degrees, walk 2 minutes at incline 10.

You’re now at the 35 minute mark. It’s time to start cooling down!

5 minute walk at incline 5 degrees.

Finally, a 5 minute cool down walk with no incline.

That’s 45 minutes, and you’ve gotten a great fat burning workout, with particular emphasis on your cellulite problem areas (thighs and rear end). The best part about this workout is it’s easily adaptable. Make it harder or easier according to your fitness level.

Also, this workout keeps you engaged and involved, and you’ll find the time will move quickly, as opposed to simply walking or jogging at the same speed, which can seem an eternity. Combined with some healthier eating habits, performing this fat blasting workout three times per week will reshape your body in ways you’ve never dreamed possible!

by Howard Brule

Spring is always an exciting time of year for shopaholics around the world. New spring fashions are just beginning to hit the store shelves, and we can’t help but think about putting away our tired, old winter clothes and getting some exciting new pieces for the new spring and summer season.

In today’s fashion world, there are almost unlimited clothing styles, materials, names, colors, and venues that you can choose from. Regardless of your age, you’ll probably be looking for the hot new spring fasions that the designers and retailers are pushing for the new season. Shopping for hot spring fashions can also be fun. It can be exciting getting new clothes so that you and your family members can look and feel great.

Women’s hot spring fashions utilize vivid, positive colors, including floral prints for shirts, skirts, dresses, and capri’s this spring. You can be quiet and delicate by using small, floral print patterns on lightweight materials or brave and daring by selecting large floral prints in casual styles. Light, summery dresses and scarves are perfect for a day at the office and a quick transition to evening wear. Blossoming roses, peonies, dahlias, violets and pansies are all the rage for prints, in addition to metallic and worldly materials in a variety of styles.

Hot styles for spring for fashionable men are going to be mostly conventional cuts with some unexpected or novel color. Neutrals like black, platinum gray, khaki, caramel, and olive make for stylish pants. Shirts can be fitted and have a slightly shimmery or pastel color to them to fit the season. Button-down dress shirts are bold and patterned. For casual wear, relaxed fit pants are a popular and stylish choice.

For boys, there are some exciting new clothing styles to choose from this spring. Hot spring styles for boys include takeoffs of the rock musician, surfer, or sports star look. Baggy jeans are still hot. Shirts with tropical prints for the surfer look are also very popular. Athletic sporty casual clothes are great for daily wear, while classic golf shirts are also popular for slightly dressier occasions.

Hot spring styles for females focus on fresh styles with a great deal of bright color. The most popular colors are generally pastels or vibrant floral colors. Floral prints along with gingham, stripes and plaid are also in style. These characteristics make for a fresh and sweet style. Also important are feminine and unisex sporty looks.

One feature of spring clothing is the bright colors, and it is true this year as well. this year’s spring designs have a lot of very feminine silhouettes and feminine accessories. These go a long way to compliment each other. This year’s spring lines are especially exciting because there are a lot of new twists on old classics.

New fashions are being featured in the fashion and lifestyle magazines as spring continues to bloom into stores everywhere. When looking for the newest and trendiest spring fashions, women should check Vogue and Elle magazines, while men should look into GQ and Esquire.

Spring fashions are highlighted every year in cities around the world. In the middle of February in the northern hemisphere, the latest spring fashion lines are prepared to come out in stores so the stores are pressured to make room on their shelves.

That means new fashions and exciting styles and colors for shoppers wanting to rejuvenate their spring wardrobes. But it also means bargains and deals for people looking to save money. All that old stock being replaced by the new spring fashions will be relegated to the bargain bins. Brand new clothing suddenly becomes available at bargain basement prices from clearance counters and wholesale clothing distributors. Spring is also a great time of year to search for online wholesale clothing.

Determining Your Pregnancy Due Date Easily

Saturday, January 19th, 2008
by Rosamond Gaven

One of the most important dates in a woman’s life can be the “due date”, that incredible day when her baby is expected to arrive.

A pregnancy is considered full term at 40 weeks, so your estimated due date is calculated 40 weeks from the date of conception. Unfortunately, this system of calculation can lead to a somewhat inaccurate due date.

Every woman does not have a regular menstrual cycle, which is one of the most common reasons of an incorrect due date. The baby’s due date is generally calculated on the assumption that the menstrual cycle lasts 28 days and the ovulation occurred at mid-cycle. This can lead to a miscalculation of as much as a full month for some women. Don’t depend too much on the initial due dated provided. Your pregnancy may or may not last the full forty weeks. Sometimes, the pregnancy can last longer by as many as two weeks.

With an estimated due date in mind, most expectant mothers are able to make plans for the events ahead, such as when to take maternity leave. Even a general date is a good indication of when you can expect to leave work. You’ll be able to estimate a truer date with blood tests and ultrasound scans as your pregnancy progresses.

A blood test can be used to determine the amount of hCG a woman has in her blood, which can indicate how far along the pregnancy is and a due date. This test should result in a much more accurate pregnancy due date than the one using a calculation based simply on the date of the woman’s last menstrual cycle. This date is often the first due date that a woman can actually trust with regards to planning for the new arrival. Of course, this blood test cannot be done in the initial stages of a pregnancy as there is not enough hCG present.

The most reliable means of determining your due date is with a series of ultrasound scans. Your baby will grow at a fairly uniform rate during the second trimester, and measurements taken at this time are valuable in gaining a true estimation. The ultrasound technician will record images of your baby and will use measurements, such as the length of the body and circumference of the head, to estimate a due date

As your pregnancy progresses, your due date should remain fairly consistent, give or take a day or two. Remember, any date that you receive is to be used as a guideline only. Most babies are born at least a day or two before or after the due date.

There is no way to guarantee the exact date of your baby’s arrival. After all, life’s most precious moments are often left to chance.

Tips On Buying Gold Body Jewelry

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008
by Jim Hofman

Most women prefer using gold belly button rings and body jewelry since gold is a symbol of beauty and abundance since ancient times. However, there are specific things to know before choosing gold body jewelry.

How do you know your gold body jewelry is really gold? It’s worth spending a little time to understand how you can make sure your gold body jewelry is pure, and not a substandard piece.

Without question, 18 karat gold is the best choice for gold body jewelry. With any lesser karat content, there’s a good chance you’ll experience a jewelry allergy or that your body will reject the gold body jewelry entirely.

Most inexpensive body jewelry is only gold plated and should be avoided. Gold plated body jewelry contains a small percentage of gold and a large percentage of other metals, thereby increasing the chance for your body rejecting the jewelry.

If your gold body jewelry is only gold plated, it’s best to look for another option. Most gold plated body jewelry contains a high percentage of nickel, which gives you a higher risk for allergic as we’ve discussed.

Even if you choose gold-plated jewelry, always check what kind of base metal it includes. For example, gold belly button rings advertised as 14 karat gold have only fourteen parts of gold in their entire composition. The other common elements are usually silver, nickel, zinc, and copper. Did you know that gold in its pure form is extremely soft, making it impossible to use as jewelry? That’s why other metals are needed to form a piece of body jewelry.

18 karat gold has a 75% gold composition. That’s why, when choosing body jewelry, you should always go with 18 karat. Most very inexpensive body jewelry is 14 karat gold, so to avoid painful jewelry allergies, go with 18 karat gold.

The most important factors to consider when buying gold body jewelry:

1. Look for gold body jewelry sellers who adhere to a strict quality assurance program, and are willing to tell potential buyers what it means.

2. Avoid trademark or logo body jewelry if there isn’t a license stamped on the back. Any trademark must also display licensing directly on the body jewelry.

3. To make absolutely sure you’ve got legitimate gold, you can have the body jewelry tested at an independent lab for $20. Labs are available in almost every large city.

4. Under a jewelers scope, take a good look at the craftmanship. Are there rough edges? Frays? Imperfections?

One last item … remember that 24 karat gold is the only pure gold. 18k, 14k, and 10k all have gold and other metals present. For reference, 18k gold is 75% pure gold, high quality, affordable, and your best choice to reduce the risk of any problems.
