Regain Good Health with an Herbal Colon Cleanse

Do you remember the food you ate last week, or even yesterday? Your menu choices may have slipped your mind, but chances are that your colon remembers everything that went into your mouth for months or sometimes years. This is because the byproducts that are left in our bodies from some of our less healthy food choices can remain in our digestive tract for a long time. This waste can hide in the crevices of your intestine, inhibiting the absorption of nutrients into your body and leaving you with fatigue, constipation and an overall feeling of malaise. There is a solution to this health problem, in the form of an herbal colon cleanse.

An herbal colon cleanse will use ingredients from nature to clean your digestive system of the waste and toxins that get in the way of good health. These cleanses can be done for a week or a month, depending on the formula that you choose. It may come in the form of a powder that can be mixed into a drink, capsules or other types of products. There are a number of possible herbs that can be used in an herbal colon cleanse, and there are other substances that you will typically find as well.

Ingredients to Look for

Cascara compound is one of the more common ingredients that you will find in an herbal colon cleanse, because it offers effective support for colon function during the detox process. Psyllium husk powder is another herb that will aid in the elimination process, thus assisting in the detoxification of the body. Herbs like slippery elm will provide soothing relief during the cleansing process, making it a good choice for an herbal colon cleanse as well. There are many other herbs that you will find as well, that will either work as a natural laxative or as a means of nutrition during the period of the cleanse.

Other ingredients that you might find in an herbal colon cleanse include bentonite, which is an edible clay. This ingredient is very effective in the process of absorbing toxins to take them out of the body. Flaxseed oil is another common ingredient because it can help to loosen the waste that accumulates inside the colon so that it can be eliminated. Finally, probiotics will help to replace the good bacteria in the digestive tract that can boost the immune system.

If you are shopping for an herbal colon cleanse, these are just a few of the ingredients that you should look for to ensure the effectiveness of the product that you use. An herbal colon cleanse can rid your body of waste and toxins, and bring you to a state of better health overall.

alternative forms of energy

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Adrian Fletcher

Fossil fuels are a finite resource that is getting more expensive every year. This trend will only continue as it gets harder to find, extract and deliver to the consumer. Apart from this, burning of coal and vehicle engine emissions are just some of the fossils fuels that are causing concerns about the environment as they deplete the ozone layer and contribute to global warming. So are there any alternatives to fossil fuels. Of course there is. This article will list a few alternative sources of energy.

The first alternative source of energy to discuss is solar energy. Energy from the sun has been understood and used for thousands of years. Today it is used in a sophisticated manner that can turn it into electricity to power our homes and gadgets.

Energy from the sun comes in two ways. It provides heat and light energy.

Using the heat supplied from the sun is the most obvious application of using the sun’s energy. You can use it to get hot water or dry clothes or cook food. In fact, this has gone on for thousands of years.

Using the light energy provided by the sun is a more modern application. The technology used to take advantage of light energy is called the photovoltaic cell (PV). PV cells are made of a silicon compound that reacts with sunlight to displace and electron. When there are a number of cells together this creates direct current (DC). Direct current can be used to power a number of devices. It can also be stored in batteries for later use. Or it can be converted into alternating current (AC) for use in the home or transportation.

Wind power appears to be capturing the popular imagination. This is due to the large amount of wind turbines that are cropping up all over the countryside. Wind turbines seem to get a mixed review. Some feel they are massive eyesores on the landscape whilst other appreciate the potential of using them to create energy.

A wind turbine is a towering structure that uses the power of the wind to turn a number blades. The kinetic energy is used to power a generator that creates electricity. Countries such as Germany, Denmark and the United States are increasing the number of wind turbines every year. They represent a clean and cheap way to create energy.

Water power is another alternative source of energy. Traditionally, the building of a dam across a river has created hydroelectric power. This has problems in that it is expensive to make and you need a river. It also has environmental consequences for the surrounding region.

Wave energy is another application of water power. There are two ways to do this. Using fixed or floating applications. The idea behind wave power is that the kinetic energy in the wave can turn a generator to make electricity. The movements of the wave can directly turn the generator or they can increase and decrease the air pressure in the generator housing that turns the generator fans.

Geothermal energy is used in limited amounts throughout the world. The principle behind geothermal energy is to use the heat from the earths core. This can be done passively by using hot water that comes out of the ground. Or actively by pumping cold water into the hot spot areas. The heated water can be used directly or the steam can be used to turn generators.

bankruptcy law - it is probably not what you assume

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Jay Anderson

Today you will find in the USA that there have been some major changes made in respect to the country’s bankruptcy law. Therefore for all Americans today it is important that they know exactly what these changes are and what effect they may have on them should they need to file for bankruptcy at any point in the future.

However, before we look at the major changes that have occurred we need to explain a little bit about the different kinds of bankruptcy one can now file for.

Chapter 7 - Of all the types of bankruptcy one can file for this is the most commonly used. Once a person files for Chapter 7, a trustee is appointed who will oversee the property and assets of the person who has filed for bankruptcy. If they can, they will obtain some of the person’s assets in order that they can be sold off and then the money raised is used to pay back the person’s creditors. Often after filing a Chapter 7, a person will discover that most of their debts will have been cancelled in their entirety, although many do not realize that not all types of debts are wiped out.

Chapter 11 - This type of bankruptcy filing is more commonly used by businesses, but can be used by individuals as well. However, often because this form of bankruptcy can prove to be expensive and complex it is not one that many people like to use. Also, the people who are most likely to file a Chapter 11 is because they have debts which are above the limits set in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing. However, with this particular bankruptcy a business is able to continue operating whilst actually sheltering it from some (again, not all) of its debts.

Chapter 13 - This form of bankruptcy allows you to set up a proposed repayment plan that will help you with clearing all the debts you have. This will need to be approved by a court and a trustee will be appointed by the court to collect the necessary payments from you and then distribute them to your creditors. The trustee will ensure that at all times you comply with the repayment plan that has been put in place.

Above we have taken a look at the types of bankruptcy that one is able to file for in the USA today. Now let us take a look at the changes that have been made to the law governing bankruptcy. One of the most dramatic changes that has taken place relates to Chapter 7. The change in the law now prohibits anyone who has a high income from actually employing Chapter 7.

So what this actually means is that in the future if you find that your income is higher than the median for your state after a means test is carried out, you will probably not be able to file Chapter 7. You will need to file for a Chapter 13 rather than a Chapter 7.

Also with the new bankruptcy law, all those who owe money will need to get credit counseling before they can actually file a bankruptcy case. Plus you will also need to undergo additional counseling with regards to budgeting and how to best manage your debts before they can actually be wiped out or assets liquidated.

making a low calorie diet plan work for you

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Kevin Prott

When you start a low calorie diet plan you have to make sure that you are getting a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet. Before you start you have to think about your goals and set them to a realistic level. You can always change your goals later down the line when you have become used to a low calorie diet plan. A good rule of thumb is to start by following the guidelines below:

Change the size and number of your daily meals. No longer will you eat three big meals a day. Under the new diet, eat five or six smaller meals and snacks throughout the day.

Impulse eating is the enemy of the serious dieter. Plan your meals the night before, so that you know exactly what will be part of each meal and what you will snack on throughout the day. Have plenty of healthy snacks at hand to reach for between meals.

Have a good variety of healthy foods in your diet. Meals should consist of fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy, whole grains and cereals, and lean meats and fish.

How you cook your food is almost as important as the foods themselves. Resist the urge to fry foods, especially in animal oils. Instead, use cooking methods such as grilling or steaming.

Although you probably love burgers and pizza and pie, remember that these are usually high in fat and should be eaten sparingly.

Watch out for any food heavy in sugar, as it’s probably going to be high in calories. Look for low-sugar desserts instead. Fruits are best!

The daily recommended allowance of fruit and veg is 5 per day. This is a good starting point for any low calorie diet plan. You could boost this by having fruit smoothies (homemade of course) or vegetable soup that is also homemade.

A good saying to remember when you’re switching to a low-calorie diet is: “Brown for White”. Instead of eating white rice or white bread, switch them for brown rice and brown whole grain bread. These are generally better for you because they have less carbohydrates.

Within your new low calorie diet plan you have to incorporate exercise in there as well. A diet is no good unless you are physically working out. If you are stuck at home all day; why not clean the house a little more energetically then you normally would. Put on some music and dance the day away while you clean.

Remember though to check with your diet before you start your journey to weight loss. But once he’s on board, these few alterations in how you eat and exercise will help you on a lifelong quest to improving your health.

buying your first guitar.

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Terry Booth

There are countless types and models of guitar on the market so when it comes to buying your first guitar, the novice guitar player can find themselves completely bamboozled. Although it seems like your local guitar shop has so many to choose from, there are many thousands more available to you online. So for a structured approach to buying guitars, you first need to choose between an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar.

Obviously if you love the sounds of those power chords in your favorite rock music and love those screaming lead guitar solos, then you will want to buy an electric guitar. When you are looking at the prices don’t forget that you will need some extra money to cover the guitar cable and at least a practice amp.

Your other choice is obviously to buy an acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars remain very popular due to their natural sound and portability. Acoustics are great for that finger picking technique you will likely want to try at some stage.

Just as the range of guitars can seem endless, so can the range in prices. There are some well known brands and models that typify the history of the guitar such as the Gibson Les Paul or the Fender Telecaster and you will pay a lot more for these. You can however buy guitars that are copies of these original vintage guitars that are cheap to buy and provide a solid guitar experience.

Your personality also reflects your choice in buying guitars. Just as one person will buy an automobile based on it being a luxury brand with a powerful engine, another person will be satisfied with a car that gets them to where they want to go. Many guitar tragics spend their time visualizing themselves owning that guitar that makes everybodies jaw drop. But others with more down to earth tastes are happy to owner one with adequate sound and quality.

If you’re not buying strictly according to name and known quality then your choice comes down to balance, playability, sound and look. The look is an easy one to cover off. You want a look that matches your type of music and your personal style. If you’re a big hairy guy with numerous tatoos and body piercings who thrashes out heavy metal songs then you’re not going to be happy with a lilac colored baby acoustic.

The sound and/or tone of the guitar can often be a personal preference. Some people naturally prefer the more acute harder edge to a fender as opposed to the more well rounded fuller tones of a gibson les paul. The same applies to buying acoustic guitars. You may prefer the deeper fuller tones of a large bodied guitar. If you’re just starting out this may not seem so important.

The feel of the guitar and how simple it is to play normally rate highly as you will be attached to it for a long time to come. Try the guitar out. You don’t have to play some technical masterpiece. Often just a clear strum on different chords gives you a good indication. Try your chords at different positions at higher frets to see how this feels. What is the action of the guitar like? Do the strings sit a long way above the fretboard at the higher frets or is it still relatively simple to play a clear sounding chord. If you aren’t comfortable doing this, take a friend with some experience with you when looking to buy your guitar for their views. Make sure the guitar feels comfortable to hold and play both sitting down and standing up. You should also check that the parts do not vibrate and that they feel reasonably solid.

The main thing is buy a guitar that seems right to you. Not your friend or the shop salesman. I recommend buying a guitar at the top end of your budget as later on you will appreciate the better quality and tone. Then you will end up with a much more enjoyable experience.

how to get a flat stomach and avoid the nasty pitfalls

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Jason KM Oh

You’ve done the hard yards to melt away your excess belly fat. But you realise that the closer you get to your goal, the harder it is to stay focused. but now is not the time to let your guard down.

Here’s how to avoid those ‘nearly there’ pitfalls and get rid of stomach fat for good:

1. Ride Out The Plateau : For the first six months or so, it seemed so easy; the weight kept coming off. But now the scales are not ticking down one spot and you are becoming frustrated. But now that you’re so close — you must stop the negative self talk that says ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘It’s just too hard’. Why not forget about the scales and set smaller, achievable goals every day to give yourself a sense of achievement and momentum. For example - Why not eat 1 more piece of fruit for the next 7 days, visit the gym tomorrow or eat healthy snacks today.

2. Change you eating habits : Review your eating habits - think twice about what you are putting in your mouth. And plan to eat more mini meals a day, and control your portions by eating from an entre sized plate only. Lastly, when you’re at the supermarket, shop smart and don’t bring home the bad foods.

3. Reward Yourself : No food. Reward yourself with an incentive in exchange for a weekly or monthly goal. Set yourself a task to visit the gym 3 times a week or just drinking water only for the week (no caffeine, no soda and any liquid calories). And when you do reach that goal, why not add $5 into a ’spoil myself’ bank account towards something special like a facial or a weekend getaway. This is a great way to keep your focus on what you need to get done - and celebrate your amazing achievement.

4. Forget the Cardios : It is not the best way to get rid of stomach fat. And very few people have successfully used cardio to lose stomach fat. If you want to get rid of stomach fat fast, you need to increase the intensity of your workout by using both resistance training and interval training to lose stomach fat.

5. Mix It Up : Variety is the spice you need. Without variety in your diet and workout, you will lose motivation and interest. Not only that, our bodies are very adaptive and will not respond well to repetitive programs. Therefore continual use of the same diet and workout, will result in a plateau. To prevent this, mix up the diet and workout on a periodical basis. Small changes, such as increasing the difficulty of a workout or just mixing up the meals can make a difference to your results.

There you have it, follow the 5 above tips to avoid any pitfalls and plateaus, and you’ll charge through the barriers that are in your way and get rid of stomach fat for good!

using a calorie shifting diet plan: how to trim excess fat safely

Friday, February 29th, 2008
by Kevin Prott

In the United States, there are more people who are overweight than there are who are not. Consequently, thousands have tried different diets, and in most cases, found these diets to be sadly lacking. Most of them might get rid of a few pounds, but only a few, and they don’t usually keep those pounds off.

A calorie shifting diet plan is the solution to your problem. What makes one so different from a traditional diet? To answer that, you have to understand why the diets you tried previously failed - because your own body worked against you.

Traditional diets all involve to some extent or another depriving your body of the calories and nutrients it needs to operate. They attempt to force your body to use up its fat to stay functioning. This approach can simply never work. Starving is painful - your body breaks down muscle to stay alive before fat, and after some time has passed anyone and everyone starving themselves will break down and eat.

Then of course, eventually you will start eating again - usually reverting back to your old patterns. Now things get really ugly. Your body still thinks there’s a food shortage, and so as soon as you start eating, it starts converting more food into fat than ever before. It does this so that in the future, it won’t be caught off guard again without a sufficient fat supply. So now, the result of your diet is more fat and less muscle. And you likely feel guilty because of your “failure” on top of it all!

So now let’s consider how calorie shifting does things differently and gets better results. With the calorie shifting diet, you eat four or five times a day instead of just three. Your meals consist of foods you really like, but you alternate them with low-fat ones. And you never eat the same amount in consecutive meals, on consecutive days, or even in consecutive weeks. You’re always doing your meals a bit differently, with one goal in mind: You never want your body to adapt.

Feel free to eat until you’re no longer uncomfortably famished. However, never eat until you’re full. The whole point is to make your body have to continue to adjust to the foods you eat, all the while causing it to tap into your fat reservoirs to replace the energy that you’re stealing from it in the form of calories.

There are two key results of this type of diet. The first is that you will stick with it longer since you’re eating enough to stay comfortable, as well as eating foods you like. The second result is that you will prevent your body from consuming body tissue, since it is instead consuming fat for its energy.

Of course, a diet of any kind is not the only part of losing weight. You will want to couple it with regular exercise. Start small, perhaps just taking a brisk walk each day, adding time and distance each day. Maybe eventually you’re feel comfortable adding in a few calisthenics or even a trip to the gym. A calorie-shifting diet actually works quite well with most exercise programs. Whereas with traditional dieting, there are some risks associated with exercising, calorie shifting already takes that into consideration.

It’s true: Dieting doesn’t have to be a miserable experience. You can still enjoy food while losing weight. Calorie shifting, along with exercise, is the key to making this a reality.
