Starting A Profitable Home Business - Business Plan

April 29th, 2008
by Thomas Griffin

Since you have become a small business person whether you are the Massage therapist or Sheepshearer, there is really a lot more pressure on you to be organized, not less. While a certain amount of spontaneity is beneficial and expected of small business, some structure and planning is needed if you will attempt to compete with what bigger corporations offer. You should really visualize the scope of your business and write it down. This can give you a significant idea of what your obstacles are, your current status, what your 10 year plan is, and how close you are to realizing them.

The most important thing is to remember to get every detail down on paper. This gives you a starting point, and something definite to alter if things need to be changed later on. The planning document can guarantee that you, your employees, and your investors are all together in their thinking.

The initial step in your business plan is a description of your business. This includes what you do, what services you provide and what products you will produce. In a word, this will verbalize the scope of your business. While this can be enlarged later, you’ll realize that writing down of your limits and terms is incredibly helpful for future development. This is also a good spot to include what kind of end game you have. While they can be general goals that you want to stick to, you should follow it up with some rough gross and net income figures that you are want to achieve.

The next part of your small business plan should consider the market, both where it stands and where you will fit in. Why do people need your service and how will your business or service will change the market? How are you going to get some buzz going about your services and will you have different types of customers that will be affected by various parts of your business? This part of your business plan essentially “proves” your business has a right to exist and gives evidence for why it should be something to put your time and energy into, so take some extra time here.

Financial capitol is going to be the next thing that you tackle. Include general expenses, contingency fees, licensing fees if necessary and anything else you can think of that will make you put out money. Because virtually all bankers will want to study your business plan primarily for this area, this is of utmost importance for you to work on. If you are a bit new to this, look at small business plans from similar successful businesses to see the best way to do this. Put down an accurate view of your current business status, but don’t forget to look to the future.

For the final step, think about management. Who is running things, and what are their responsibilities? This is a prime method to maintain your organization and verbalize responsibilities. Like any other part of the plan, this section can be altered, but the important thing to do is to have it there in the first place.

Take some time to be confident that your business plan is up to snuff, and you will discover that your business will start becoming profitable much faster.

Take Charge Of Your Finances

April 29th, 2008
by William Blake

More than ever before, Americans are drowning in debt. Studies show that the average American family uses up to 8 credit cards, and carries between $7,500 and $10,000 in credit card debt alone–add student loans, mortgages, equity lines and car payments to the mix, and it can be a recipe for disaster. Experts warn that as interest rates climb, and the market becomes increasingly uncertain, it is more important than ever to be in control of our finances.

Here are a few tips to help you obtain financial freedom in 2008:

1. Make a list. As painful as it may be, by making a comprehensive list of debts, complete with the attached interest rates, you can accurately measure your financial health. Remember, admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

2. Stick to your goal. Post your goal in a central location, where you will be reminded of it daily. Take your credit cards out of your purse, switch to cash only, or make yourself accountable to another person for all your purchases. Find new hobbies, and if necessary, new friends. Surround yourself with people who support you in your goal. You are beginning a new lifestyle”embrace it and focus on the positive aspects of being debt free.

3. Track your spending. In addition to figuring out what you owe, it is important to understand where your money is going. Seeing your spending habits in black and white, is often enough motivation to live more frugally. You may find that you are spending much more than expected on your food bill, or that the increase in gas prices is costing you more than you thought for your commute.

4. Cut the fat. As you track your spending, watch for ways to cut out unnecessary costs from your budget. At this point, nothing is sacred–you must be willing to question every expense. If you commute, consider public transportation for a few months, or find a coworker to carpool with, and share the cost of gas. Pack your lunch instead of eating out, or read the paper online instead of buying it every day.

Even ten dollars a day spent at Starbucks, on lunch, or on snacks adds up to almost $300 a month. Every cent you waste is money that could be going toward your goal. Small lifestyle changes can make a big difference as you work to eliminate debt this year.

5. Find extra income. Depending on the severity of your financial situation, there are a number of ways to increase your income. Working overtime or even taking a second job might be necessary to achieve your financial goals. Part time or weekend jobs such as dog walking, lawn care, or snow removal can help to make a huge dent in your debt. Using websites like eBay, half.com, or Craigslist.com, is another way to turn your extra clutter into cash.

T-Shirt - A Versatile Piece of Clothing

April 29th, 2008
by Kathy Austin

The conception and birth of the t-shirt was a normal occurrence. Nothing complicated. It might have passed off into the history of fashion without a walk down any of the world’s long ramps had not some subsequent events taken place. But its evolution, though short like is arm is quite an interesting one. For it started on its journey to fame as a humble underwear.

The T-Shirt began its existence as a humble piece of clothing hidden under another layer of clothing or sometimes under layers of clothing that men wore. It spent its life hidden away, soaked in his sweat, either because of his toils or because of the climate or just because of some metabolic quirk that he had. Some times he sweated for some primeval reason.

In the beginning the it was known only as a piece of underwear. The concept of underwear did not really take off till the early twentieth century when in 1901 the P.H. Hanes Knitting Company started the manufacture of men’s underwear. But it was the Navy that really accelerated my evolution when it issued my predecessor, a piece of apparel with a crew neck and short sleeves with a T like outline (hence the T-Shirt) during World War I.

From then on its development was extraordinary. It had to be worn. There was no discrimination between the sexes nor was it restricted to a certain age. It was considered to be cool - literally and figuratively. It became a national phenomenon and when it became a political tool for propaganda it reached its heyday. For a fact, the Smithsonian Institute boasts ownership of the oldest printed t-shirt on record, a shirt used during the then Governor of New York, Thomas E. Dewey’s 1948 presidential campaign with the phrase “Dew-IT with Dewey” on it.

From then on its growth was phenomenal. Everybody was wearing one. It was something cool - literally and figuratively. Its history even has a political edge to it and the Smithsonian Institute boasts ownership of the oldest printed T-Shirt on record, imprinted with the phrase “Dew-IT with Dewey” from New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey’s 1948 presidential campaign.

This simple and inexpensive apparel became a means of displaying opinions, jokes, one-liners, graphic messages and the like. Anything and everything printable would have at one time or another been printed on it. Further developments in printing technology only helped in increasing its overall reputation. Now that the Internet is here, customizing a t-shirt to suit one idiosyncrasies is just a matter of mouse and keyboard use.

Jokes, one-liners, graphically symbolic messages, you name it and they all appeared on the simple, inexpensive piece of dress shaped like a “T”. As printing technology developed it became more and more graphical. Mass production techniques just edged it on the more.

What one wears speaks volumes of wearer; this is a well known saying but the humble t-shirt manages to say a lot more that the others. You just can’t beat a t-shirt.

Natural Treatments for Insomnia - A Closer Look

April 29th, 2008
by Davion Wong

If you find medical treatments for your sleep disturbance to be expensive, then try out these natural treatments for insomnia. You can find some of these treatments in your own kitchen or you can even do some of these techniques yourself without the need of a medical doctor.

One of the most popular choices when it comes to natural treatments for insomnia is the use of herbal supplements. The most popular herb known to induce sleep is Valerian. Valerian works by affecting your calming neurotransmitter, GABA. This has been studied and was reported to be safe for general use and doesn’t contain any addictive properties.

Your melatonin levels can also be altered and is considered one of the many natural treatments for insomnia. Your pineal body produces serotonin everyday and when your body is less exposed to light during night time, serotonin is converted to melatonin and helps in putting you to sleep. Melatonin supplements can be taken before bedtime, for approximately thirty minutes beforehand.

Kava is another herb that has subsequent effects that can help in treating insomnia. It is primarily used as an anti-anxiety herbal supplement. Insomnia that is brought on by anxiety or stress responds very well to Kava. However, Kava is not generally accessible for the public because there have been reports of adverse effects as a result of taking the anti-anxiety herb.

Relaxation techniques, one of the natural treatments for insomnia, are relatively effective in treating insomnia whatever the cause. Such techniques include visualization, relaxation response, mindfulness, Yoga, and progressive muscle relaxation. All these techniques are done to help relax your tense muscle and soothe your stressed brain to lull you into a peaceful sleep.

In order to enhance the effects of these natural treatments, it is imperative that you change your lifestyle also, starting with your diet. Do avoid over consumption of caffeine. You should also avoid ingesting too much sugar as this gives you a burst of energy preventing you from sleeping. The foods you should be eating are those that contain Tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin and magnesium-rich foods from vegetables and legumes. Magnesium is known to be a natural sedative.

Chinese traditional medicine such as acupuncture and other sense-altering therapies like aromatherapy, music therapy, and light therapy are known natural treatments for insomnia. All of these treatments help in soothing your muscles and help depress your brain into a natural sleepy state.

My health blog will give you insights on the natural treatments for insomnia. So if you still haven’t found the right natural treatment, visiting my health blog could be one of the answers.

Common issues with Windows registries and how to fix them

April 29th, 2008
by Zachary S Bartlett

According to experts, nine out of ten computers have errors in their Windows registry. Registry issues are actually very common, but many times, it’s hard to decide if the Windows registry is the culprit or not.

There are times when your computer can be running a little slowly and no error messages will show up, but this could mean that there are hidden problems in your Windows registry. With many computer experts saying that nine out of ten computers have issues with their registry, the odds are good that you have a problem.

Symptoms of a registry issue

How exactly can you tell if your Windows registry is causing your computer to run slowly or have problems? Well, there are a few signs you can look for. If you see any of these symptoms, you might have a Windows registry issue.

*You get the infamous blue screen of death. This one is fairly obvious. Most of the time, the error message you see will indicate some invalid entry in the registry is at fault.

*Your computer boots up very slowly or at least slower than usual. This is one of the reasons why a registry scan is recommended every month or so.

*After the computer boots it continues to run slowly when you try to load a program or run any otherwise normal program.

*A program crashes. Sometimes, you’ll just get a generic ‘this program has encountered an error and needs to close’ message, but sometimes the error will specifically point to the registry, which is very helpful since you know where the problem is.

*Internet explorer crashes often for no reason that you can see.

*There are error messages that reference .dll files. These files are important because they are the ones that the registry runs routinely. The file listed is probably experiencing some corruption and may have important data missing.

In order to fix some of these problems you will need to find and download a Windows registry scanner so that it can properly rid your registry of any lingering issues it might have. Since it is likely that there are several problems you aren’t even aware of, the scanner will likely find several different problems.

What You Can do to Recover

Most Windows registry scanners will include the option to repair your registry. However, a good number of Windows registry repair utilities require you to purchase the full version of the program. Once you have a licensed version, the program will be able to fix all of your registry problems.

If you need help finding a Windows registry repair tool, a quick internet search will turn up a number of different options. How do you know which one is the right repair tool for you? Nearly every site that features registry repair tools features reviews of these tools, so you can compare them and see which one fits your needs the most.

One fantastic method to use when you’re trying to improve your improvisation skills is to use guitar backing tracks. What is Acid Indigestion

April 29th, 2008
by Jamaal Harrison

Acid indigestion is one of the most common digestive ailments, one characterized by discomfort and a sensation of burning, often just after eating. Millions of people complain of this daily, as commonly as of headaches and constipation, and the widespread advertising of acid indigestion remedies is proof of this. More formal terms for this condition are acidosis and hyperacidity, but it is more commonly referred to as heartburn.

This is because one of the more frequent symptoms is a burning sensation in the lower chest near the heart. The location of the pain relates to the position of the esophagus or gullet and the stomach, which is situated just under the diaphragm on the left side of the abdomen. Heartburn is caused by over secretion of hydrochloric acid by the cells of the stomach lining. This strong acid is there to break down and digest food, but an excess causes that sensation of heat we call heartburn. Abdominal fullness, belching, and nausea are other symptoms that can accompany acid indigestion.

Medically, too much acid is called hyperchlorhydria. The burning sensation usually starts in the chest and can also rise into the throat causing even more discomfort. Lying down after eating can make it worse as can bending and eating spicy or acidic foods like citrus fruits. Standing up can often relieve symptoms. Acid indigestion can be mistaken for heart disease but there are differences in presentation. Exercise usually makes heart related discomfort worse but doesn’t increase the heartburn problem. Acid indigestion pain is rarely related to being active physically.

However, a doctor should be consulted about any unusual chest pain or discomfort. Acid indigestion can actually damage the lining of the esophagus so it needs to be treated. Changes in lifestyle and diet can help quite a bit. Any food that aggravates that irritated esophagus should be avoided, including citrus fruits, tomato products, pepper and other strong spices.

A change in diet is often recommended. For others, lifestyle changes are also needed. Losing weight or avoiding lifting or sleeping after eating have been know to help the problem.

Learn the Basics of Conversational Hypnosis

April 29th, 2008
by VIctor Lorentzo

If you have ever watched Star Wars you probably remember how the Force was used to talk people into doing things or accepting things. Just by lifting up the hand Obi Wan Kenobi was able to tell people exactly what to think. This is fiction of course, but by using conversational hypnosis you are able to do much of the same things. You do not even have to lift your hand.

The Basics of Converational Hypnosis

When we talk about conversational hypnosis we often think about hypnosis shows or street hypnosis. Conversational hypnosis is no magic or black art technique. By using some well tested strategies we are able to use conversational hypnosis to convince people about close to everything, and they will believe it as the truth. Milton Erickson is one of the leaders of conversational hypnosis and he discovered how people fall into different trances all through the day. Watching TV, waiting for the bus, reading, working and in other every day situations.

What Milton Erickson discovered was that he was able to use this trance like situations to enter into the mind of his prospects. He was then able to turn them into his way of thinking. He was able to remove their resistance towards the suggestion he was about to present. He also discovered that he could use rapport and confusion to get people into this trance like state and then be able to use conversational hypnosis to change their way of thinking. Rapport, confusion and indirection suggestions are the basic elements of conversational hypnosis.

Rapport: You have probably tried to build rapport with a person or the people around you. Rapport can be defined as an agreement mode where you have the same thoughts and the same interests in common.

Rapport helps in getting the subject’s guards down. In case you strike a rapport with the subject then the subject considers you as “his party” and then it becomes easy to influence him.

Confusion: When using confusion in conversational hypnosis your goal is to get the subject to go to you for advice. He gets unsure about the thing he is talking about and turns to you for an answer. Getting a subject into confusion can be as simple as saying “are you sure there are no better ways to do this?”

Suggestion: When you have established rapport and you have used confusion to get your subject to go to you for an answer it is your time to strike. Now it is your time to suggest a better way to handle the situation. You want to do this indirectly to make the subject think that he thought it out himself.

Conversational hypnosis is an excellent tool to influence people to your way of thinking especially if your way is beneficial to them. However, word of caution here excess use of these principles may make the person see through your technique. Conversational hypnosis is a great technique to influence your lover or your friend to your way of thinking.

The Value of Testimonials in Online Marketing

April 29th, 2008
by Jason Pearson

Finding people to write sincere and glowing reviews of your business can be challenging. The results, though, are often undeniably profitable. Using genuine testimonials on your website is one way to build your image as a reputable company and expand your clientele at the same time.

You should keep in mind that websurfers can almost always spot false advertising. Instead of creating outlandish fictional customer comments, it is a better idea in the long run to seek out real customers’ opinions. This too is usually evident to online consumers and can build a sense of trust with your prospects, making them more likely to buy from you.

To know which of your customers would be well-suited to write a testimonial, offer a survey at the end of their experience. You can get an idea of how happy they were overall and about each part of the process along the way. You will also be able to tell if they are a potential cheerleader of your business.

Ideally, if your product has made someone’s life easier, she may be grateful enough to share this solution with others, just because she wants to help others out. Realistically, if you include a coupon or giveaway with a completed survey, you will get more responses. It’s also a good idea to get a professional’s help when writing your survey, to make sure you get the right kind of information in return.

Another way to find people to write testimonials in their own words is to use an opt-in email list. The subscribers to your emails can be offered a free sample of your work, whatever it may be. The only condition would be that they provide their feedback in return.

This isn’t as difficult as it sounds. Most people like being a part of improving a product and will pass this information along to others if they have a good experience. They will also appreciate that their opinion is valued, so make sure you let them know this.

Don’t fall into the trap of fabricating testimonials just because you suspect your competitors have done so. If your product is new to the market, you have to extend yourself that much more and offer some freebies to get what you need. In the process you may just build a strong customer base and a sense of satisfaction as well.

An effective sales letter containing testimonials can strongly persuade one buyer to follow in another’s footsteps. If you have a high quality product or service that you believe in, it will not be long before others feel the same way. Then it is just a matter of finding a few happy customers and allowing them to share their satisfaction with others.
